So some of you were following my 45 gallon Coldwater build. Well I jumped of the deep end and traded my carpet anemone tank for a marineland lobster tank. I know I have the 4x4 build going also but I have a plan and so far I am out 40 bucks so I can do foam rocks. Here is the set-up, it is a 110 gallon display up top with a 30 gallon sump below. That's were the chiller "wire" runs in loops. It has a fiberglass grate covering this part and is slotted to allow for reverse flow so keep the bed free of detritus. It has a reserve area between it and the floor of the tank. I was think bio-ball in this area. I was going to put in pourous rocks but weight is a factor due to the flimsy fiberglass. For filtration it has two airlines that run up two tubes that lead to a media basket and out flows the water. Don't worry I will post pics tomorrow evening to show what I am saying. It also has a drain but I'm not sure where that's coming from. Or where it was leading to. Also the the tubes to the media basketconfuse me. I may just run power heads on the tubes. And have them spray water into the media basket and call it good. Rather than have an airpump do it. I filled it tonight to do a leak test and test the chiller. My living room is 78 right now and my tank ks sitting at I have it cranked down and it is at 41.1 after plunging my arm in the frigid water to mix up the cold water. Yep that's 140 gallons dropping 37 degrees below air temp. And with the double paned gas injected glass panels there is zero sweating:) oops quick update I just hit 40f lol.

I reached 37f and am shutting her down. The chiller works. A little noisy but she works like a champ :)

Dude, forget the tank, that thing should be a giant cooler. Think of all the beer you could keep cold with that thing, LOL.

My arm was cold to the touch for ten minutes, each time I reached in the damn thing.

lol u sob!~ I was gonna get that lobster tank of CL like 6months ago but the old lady wasnt having it! Did it come with everything like filter and stuff>?Wat temp r u keeping it at? Where u gonna get livestock?

It doesn't have the normal biowheel with stackable trays. Or the uv filter. I plan on an overflow and secondary sump with protein skimmer and a fluval 404. And maybe tying in the 4x4 tank with it. But it doesn't have that chuncky equipment in the display. And I just might make the two tubes look like piling or structure of some kind. It makes a hell of a peninsula tank. Ill keep it at 55-60f. I already have a bunch of livestock from a couple local guys. And I got the other stuff from Coldwater marine Aquatics. They are out of Oregon and specialize in Coldwater fish and inverts. I'm making another order tonight.

Lol I feel validated now Dave. I am and I know it. I am hoping I can link the two systems since I will be dropping it to only 60. At least that's my justification:) that and I haven't spent a dime on the new tank.

English SON!!! Do you speak it?
You're giving me a headache with that freakin text speak typing!

I was thinking of using latex caulking and attaching it to the glass piece under the tray and a corner piece for a semi peninsula look. That way it will be on the other side of the concrete foundation wall from the 4x4and share the sump.

Is this foam wall going to be underwater? If so DO NOT use latex caulking to attach it.
RVT silicone MIGHT hold it.

Oh goodpoint. If I have trouble with the rvt holding, I'll caulk plastic tacks to the glass and push the foam on to it. Or set rocks on the bottom edge.

Lol I was just reading what I wrote earlier. I meant acrylic not latex. Lol I was wondering why Dave was adamant about latex. I should proof read.

Hi Paul ~

Some of the folks at PSAS were talking about cold-water tanks with local critters so I steered them to your threads. Hope you don't mind.)\
