I have 75 gal also, just added 2 wks. ago new lighting. 48'' 2/250w 10,000k w/ 2/96w actinics. For the last 6-8 mos hairy algae w/ brown on the gravel had taken over the tank. Now I'm still fighiting it but less. Still can't get rid off the brown algae on the gravel. Any suggestions?? Ca is about 380 a wk. ago, no phosphates,nitrates, and so on. Ph is about 3.8, still adding buffer to increase alk. What kind of ca do u use? I've used Tropic Marine bio-calcium and now using Kent Marine liquid reactore. I've been trying to grow coraline algae but no luck yet. Even the pet shop gave me some but nothing. What's your set up? How long are your lights on? How often do/did u add 'corals' to your tank? Every mo./ bi-wkly?
