A friend and I started salt reef and fish tanks about the same time. I like the corals so I only have 8 small fish in my 55 galllon tank. I have had a few failures. One orange anemone hid in the live rock spaces and must have died. Three weeks and no sign of it, yet I see no decomposing particles, a sm orange starfish was visable for weeks and now has dissapeared for weeks. My nitrates are normal, my phosphates are high even after regular water changes. Hair algae is becoming a problem. I love this hobby and consider the tank my indoor gardening, as I have a 1/4 acre of organic gardening during the summer. I live on 3 acres in Moses Lake with dozens of chickens and 14 show quarter horses for which I have a full time trainer. I find with my tank, like any other hobby, there are always challenges and much to learn. I enjoy learning vicariously from all the posts. Thanks for letting me learn from many knowledgable people.
