    We need a tanksitter

Dan, A PM will be on its way shortly. :) At this time, we do not have ATO set up on either of the two tanks. The lighting is on timers, but I perform manual top-off with calcium and alkilinity additions twice a day. While we are gone on vacation, the two-part additions can be performed...

    We need a tanksitter

Greetings, Julia and I will be heading to Indianapolis later this month for an IVF vacation. We will be gone from approximately July 18-25. Our neighbors will be keeping an eye on our house, but we need a tanksitter to stop by the house once a day to topoff our two 30-gallon tanks and to dose...

    Anyone on RF with photos

This was making the rounds by email recently. My wife found it and I watched it a couple weeks ago. I had not laughed that hard in months, and I laugh hard every day of my life. g

Happy belated birthday, Michael! :) I am now 46 and my forties have been the best years of my life. I expect that my fifties will be even better. Gary

    Skim Clean

I clean the riser tube on my skimmer twice a day with a toothbrush. It takes about 15-30 seconds and sometimes I drain the skimmer collection cup, too. I am a hands on, check out the tank equipment kind of guy. g

    My plumbing nightmare....LOL enjoy

Looks great. What is the toal volume of that set-up? How many display tanks are plumbed together? Gary

    Proper Powerhead sizing

I was going to suggest that make sure your powerheads are securely attached if you plan on having LPS like hammers or frogspawn. Years ago, I had some maxi-jets that were secured by suctions cups. The suction cups came loose, and the flow was directed right at a hammer coral. The flow damaged...

    I need a better skimmer for my 275 g.

Out of curiosity, what is the price on the ASM G3 at the local fish store in Bellevue? You may be able to find a better price from an online retailer. And skimerwhisperer definitely knows skimmers. Buying one excellent skimmer would be better than buying a kind of ho-hum skimmer and...

    Project Frag 20L

That looks spectacular! And very sturdy, too. The extra large door opening is nice. g

    Nano Skimmer

Yeah, I gotta be careful about not getting carried away and buying upgrade equipment just because it is available for a good price. g

    Nano Skimmer

Price is pretty much always one of my determining factors when buying equipment. Occasionally you can find a good deal on used skimmers. I tend to spend more money on my skimmers and my lighting, but I do shop around for good deals. g

    Which nano would you buy?

+1 on Mark's comments. Julia and I have two nanos - a 30-gallon custom-built SPS tank and an Oceanic 30-gallon soon-to-be-seahorse cube tank. The SPS tank has a 12-gallon display section plus a six gallon sump and a six gallon refugium built in. I wish that I had more display space, but the...

    my nano....

You have quite the variety of coral in your tank. And nice lookin' ones, too! The first pictures of your tank with frag racks reminds me of my stuffed nano tank. My racks were blocking light to the corals below, so I moved most of my chalices and a few other corals to our 30-gallon softie...

    Nano Skimmer

If you are planning on a heavy bioload or need cleaner water for SPS, any of the skimmers mentioned by skimerwhisperer will outperform a BakPak skimmer. g

    My 20 Gallon Long......

Nice looking tank you have started. I have a 24" Current Sundial T5 fixture over our 30-gallon soon-to-be-softie tank. We like it and it works out very well on out tank. The dual built in timers are pretty cool. The pump that is feeding your refugium - what is it? Have you taken care of the...

easiest way to clean acrylic check this out!!!!

I used the Magic Eraser on my 30-gallon AIO acrylic tank tonight and it worked great. My rock and coral are too close to the front "glass" to use a cleaning magnet, so I just used a small piece and cleaned the tank by hand. It beats the heck out of using a plastic scraper that ends up...
