    Normal mushroom behavior...?

Still having the same results with the Coral Frenzy. Great color-up and growth. Even my tubestra snags a snack every once in a while. Right after I started using the Coral Frenzy, a month or so ago, both of my peppermint shrimp were carying little green eggs, so I put one shrimp in my 'frag'...

    Little white spots...Coraline?

After a little over a month of waiting to see what color coraline the spots would become, I'm not too sure it's coraline. They stay white until the centers disappear, sometimes leaving the outside 'ring' only. I've seen my hermits go after the spots low enough for them to reach, and I think...

Newbies guide to the nano reef

Speaking of salinity...should I be topping off my tank with fresh water before I do a water change? The salt doesn't evaporate with the water, does it? I think this was my problem early-on. I kept having salinity swings I was blaming on my salt mix. Seems ok, now that I top off before a...

    Normal mushroom behavior...?

Well, I've been using the Coral Frenzy, for a couple of weeks now, and it seems almost all of my softies and LPS' love the stuff. No noticible changes with my Sun Coral (tubestra) or my SPS's. The Mushrooms, Pagoda Cup, and the Finger Leathers really stretch and extend. Even our Crocea Clam...

    Normal mushroom behavior...?

Thank you. When I first got it, was only about 1", expanding to about 1 1/2 ". I usually turn off the incoming flow, but leave on my in-tank powerhead, for about 10 to 15 minutes to swirl the stuff around. Twice a week (cleaning the skimmer cup...) I leave the skimmer off during the day, back...

    Normal mushroom behavior...?

My camera's batteries finally got done re-charging. Here's my open brain before and after. A tape measure is at bottom of each photo. You can see how much space she has in her playground... Just before feeding Coral Frenzy: 10 min. after feeding... 20 min. after feeding... She has...

    New Coral Food - WOW

I made-up a small water bowl of each. waited 1 minute to thaw/absorb the water, then gently stirred. The (frozen) Cyclopeeze was consistent in size...looked like super tiny red bb's. The (freeze dried) Coral Frenzy had much more of a variation to the sizes of the particles, and were noticibly...

    Normal mushroom behavior...?

I got mine from DIYReef.com. Comes in a little bottle, about 3 1/2" tall, with a tiny scoop. I recommend removing the scoop after you get it. Trying to dig it out of the bottle, my big fingers end up with more food on them, than in the scoop. I hadn't tried Cyclopeeze, but decided to try...

    Normal mushroom behavior...?

Just started feeding my corals that new Coral Frenzy three days ago, and my mushrooms are acting strange. They've always looked like this: After three days (2 feedings) they are doing this: Is this normal, or is there something wrong with them? They've never stretched like this before...

Newbies guide to the nano reef

Not knocking your creativity...just my inability to sort thru it, lol. Keep the creativity and insight flowing. Only on my second cup of coffee, but will peruse the info again...:D

Newbies guide to the nano reef

Sorry, but in these humorous ramblings...this just got too monotonous. I'll check back after 3 more cups of coffee...maybe I can make sense of it then. Good info, if you pick thru the 'spy in the skimmer' parts.

    ID Please...Branching Coralline?

I've got bunches of this growing like crazy on the live rock in our (2w/gal) frag tank, and some of the shadowed spots in my main display...This example is about 1/4" tall. I'm thinking it's branching coralline algae. Any chance that's right? If so, how large can it get? Thank you Jim

    ID Please...pix included.

I had to shoo my peppermint shrimp off of the frag to remove it from the tank. It was showing no interest in the stuff at all. Thanks for the help.

Tossed the frag it came in on and searched every square inch of visible rock faces and sand...so far so good. Keeping an eye out for it now, tho.

 . Haven't disturbed it, and the other one is on the same frag. Will just get rid of the frag. Thanks. <sigh>

    ID Please...pix included.

Found a couple of these a few of weeks ago. It kinda looks like a spaghetti worm, but with pretty short tentacles, which don't seem to get much longer. Here's from the front: Here's from the side: It appears to be attached to the rock, no tube, and as you can see in the second pix, a central...
