    Removing Copper from QT

Seachem CupriSorb? Ron, What about Seachem's CupriSorb? I haven't had an opportunity to use it as of yet. But I found the product while I was looking around, preparing to setup my quaratine tank. http://www.seachem.com/products/product_pages/CupriSorb.html Premium Aquatics has the 250 mL...

Hanna pH/EC/TDS/Temp Combo - Any good?

It's not that bad with four 6-gallon jugs. I don't find that it's too pricey at $0.25/gal. My only concern is how often and how well do they maintain the water station. Of course they put a sticker on the station daily indicating that it has been serviced. Sometime next year, I'm going to...

Hanna pH/EC/TDS/Temp Combo - Any good?

Unfortunately, I don't have a RO system. I've been relying on my LFS ($0.45/gal & 5 miles away) and a Watermill water filling station ($0.25/gal & 1/2 mile away). I wanted the TDS meter to check their quality of water. I plan on testing the water with the TDS meter and a nitrate test. I'll...

Hanna pH/EC/TDS/Temp Combo - Any good?

Thanks, guys! With an accurate pH meter (Pinpoint pH monitor) and TDS meter (Com-100 TDS meter), I should be able to have an easier time getting my tank in shape. As opposed to those funky drops and test strips. -Dennis

Hanna pH/EC/TDS/Temp Combo - Any good?

Never mind...I'm going to just get the Pinpoint pH Monitor now. I can just move it back and forth when I need it which shouldn't be but every few weeks. Which calibration solutions would I need for the EC & TDS ? -Dennis

Alrighty...HM DIGITAL COM-100 Waterproof EC/TDS/Temp Combo Meter it is. I found one new for $50. What is the concensus on the: Hanna pHep5 Digital pH / temp Waterproof Meter Tester for $50 ? I need something ASAP to use with both my main tank and my QT...so portability is a plus. In the...

Hanna pH/EC/TDS/Temp Combo - Any good?

I'm curious if anyone has any first-hand experience with Hanna pH/EC/TDS/Temp Combo - Model HI 98129 ? I'm about to purchase one for about $135. I would like to use it to test the quality of the RO water that I have been purchasing from my LFS and Watermill Station. Also, I would like to...

Help identifying items growing on LR

Thanks, Curt...AGAIN...especially for the reassurance! My wife is regretting the tank but I'm enjoying the challenge. I have too much time and money involved to just give up. Not to mention, it's always been a dream of mine to have an awesome looking saltwater aquarium. It'll be a long 2...

Help identifying items growing on LR

In picture 43, arrow 3's object is soft and fluffy; whereas, arrow 2's object is short and firm. Here is a little better picture. What is the best way to remove these if not desirable? Trim and remove? Fluffy one definitely not desirable, doesn't look good. Yes, there are runners. There...

90 gallon tank up for 1.5 months

90 gallon tank setup on 8/31/06. Picture taken on 10/8/06. Unfortunately, I lost the Powder Blue Tang (PBT) and 2-clownfish to an evil bout of ich about 2-3 weeks after this photo was taken. The PBT was about 7 inches long and gorgeous.

Dream come true - Wedding Anniversary present

I've dreamed of having a saltwater aquarium since I was a child but my father was opposed to that idea. However, he always had a 55 gallon freshwater aquarium up and running. Well my dream came true a few months ago. My wife bought me a 90 gallon aquarium from a LFS while I was out of town and surp

The white specks on the heater are spiral tube worms? Or were you refering to the green tube looking things near arrow 1 on pic 43? Is Halimeda or "money plant" good to have? Thanks, Dennis

Help identifying items growing on LR

Ron, thanks! I used to have a PBT but lost him about 2 weeks ago. Darn LFS shouldn't have sold it to me, not with such a new tank and inexperience! Ultimately my fault though. Didn't realize how difficult to keep until afterwards when I started having problem and began researching. He was...

Re-thinking current 90 gal. tank setup

And to think that my LFS set my wife up with the Biowheel & Protein Skimmer and told me that I had everything I needed to run corals! And I thought I was kind of over doing it when I added 2-MJ900's! -Dennis

Re-thinking current 90 gal. tank setup

Guys, thank you for all of your input. It has been quite helpful. I believe I am on the right track. The Biowheels have been removed. The noise from the spray bar was easily fixed by just turning them towards the back. Now they are spraying on the plastic removable media holder...

Re-thinking current 90 gal. tank setup

Thanks, guys! I'm assuming y'all do not believe in running any type of activated carbon either continuously or periodically to remove dissolved organic matter from the water, simply relying on the live rock & protein skimmer to tend to them? Should I just run the Marineland Biofilter with only...

Re-thinking current 90 gal. tank setup

I think I'm at an early point in the hobby that I need to take 2 steps back before I can successfully move forward. I would like to limit the amount of money that I seem to waste buying equipment that online reviews, online stores and LFS say are great but are later contradicted on this site...
