    Making Reef Rocks..

You would be surprlsed at what laws people come up with to protect their shoreline. We are not always dealing with logical people all of the time. ie: Washington State: Spotted owl: in order to protect this bird they stopped logging to an entire forest area.

    Making Reef Rocks..

Great, but I would check with local DLNR on laws for the area.

    Making Reef Rocks..

I mix standard 3-2-1 mix. 3 sand 2 rock and 1 cement. The salt is a great idea because as it disolves it leaves lots of gaps for Nitrifying bacteria due to increase water flow throughout the rock.

LED UFO light, cheap new led light for reefs???

Did you get a chance to check out their MH fixtures? Their fixtures show plug and play, but looking carefully that puts the light and ballast together. It would keep the heat above the AQ but again would look pretty bad.

LED UFO light, cheap new led light for reefs???

I agree with you totally. Solaris is a knock out of a fixture though. If we could say "it's only money" that would be great. :D Your point about 5500k is well taken. Do you think this spec. would be good for corals. Another thought is, "Can we stand the color". I guess we could always suppliment...

LED UFO light, cheap new led light for reefs???

New ideas are popping up everyday. The thing that worries me is that it states that it is for indoor use only. Now that''s a given. But is the leds able to handle saltwater or what. $600.00 is in there with Mh lights but we know that metal Hals work...

    Good corals for starting out

I don't knw. My PJ just hangs around in one spot. Most active at night. When I first got it, it only ate shrimp. took me 5-6 months and I offered it some frozen blood worms and it ate them like a pig. It now it's everything I offer.

    Making Reef Rocks..

I air dried it for ~a month then put a few pieces in the tank. I also have most of them in a container and change the water every other day or so. PH was 8.9 and above. It's down to ~8.6 now. Real slow. Can't rush it or I could lose all due to PH shock.

    Good corals for starting out

I have a PJ cardinal in with a threesome of clowns and they get along fine. The mistake I think I made is that I may have one to many clowns as they are known to get nasty with age...I guess that's true wilh all of us...:D

    Making Reef Rocks..

I made some reef rocks about 6 months ago. I'm still waiting for the PH to come down. The first batch I made was made to thick. I also changed from crushed coral to Oyster shells. That made the rock very porous and a lot lighter. Still waiting for the PH to come down.

    Fertilizer for gracilaria

That's a great way to do it. What type of tangs do you have?

Bleach or Boil 150+ lb of LR?

You're correct in not wanting to take the problem into the new setup. I agree on the tank having to recycle again, It will give you a chance to do other things withth the setup. Have fun...........

    Fertilizer for gracilaria

I have also found it to be temp. sensitive. Keep the temp, under 80* at all times for best growth. That dried stuff is called "Nori". I use the Vegi clip with the screen on it so that I fish, my gobi's don't twist it off in one bit. The Tangs have to work hard to get at it. I made my own grid...

    Fertilizer for gracilaria

[/IMG]You folks should be able to get Gracilaria from the Asian section of your supermarket. It would be called "Ogo".
