    New set up

If you're worried about your overflow "overwhelming" your pump - don't. One of the entire points of using this overflow model is that you can only drain water as fast as you can pump it back in. If too much water drains too quickly, the siphon is lost until the pump can put the water back in...

    What's the deal with ozonators?

I'm reading over this... so let me throw some stuff out and see if you guys can confirm... I have a 125G w/ 30G sump. I should be able to run a 50mg/h at about 10-15% 24/7 and not have any problems, right ? Is the carbon really needed? Lots of people say they don't use it... And I can...

    What's the deal with ozonators?

Well? What's up with ozonators? Should I run out and grab one?

How much light do I need?

Hahaha. I am amazed that I didn't think of this on my own. I'm usually all about taking things apart or DIY'ing. For some reason I didn't even think to do it with the lights. :-) Thanks.

How much light do I need?

I never though about taking them apart... I guess that would save a few hundred $$$. So, if I have 2x150 10K... Should I go with another 150 in the center or step it up to a 250 ? Also, I want the animals to fluoresce a little more than they do with the 10K. Would a 14K or 20K be better?

How much light do I need?

I believe it is 20" deep... whatever a standard 125G is. We have lots of polyps and mushrooms, a frogspawn, very small leather coral and some fish. I don't imagine we'll keep any SPS. I like the soft corals and LPS more.

How much light do I need?

Those 2 150s are made into a fixture (CurrentUSA) along with the 4x96. Can't separate them. It looks like the 150s are lighting enough as far as I can tell. Would 3x150 be enough light for a 125?

How much light do I need?

Had a 75G stocked with a few (4?) fish, 3 anemones (LT, bubblex2), a bunch of mushrooms, glove polyps, button polyps and such. We had 48" combo hood with 2x150 10k + 4x96 PC on there... We just upgraded to a 125 and right now are using the same lights. We've added two or three small corals...

    Turbotflotor 1000 & OR 2700 ?

So I have come across a used T1000 sans pump & pumbing. Since the OR 2700 is "specially designed for the T1000," if I order it, do I get the two pieces of tubing I need to connect it to the skimmer?

    Q about MH lights

Yeah, I was planning on making one pretty tall and then have all the lights attached to a 1x4 that can be raised up if needed. :-)

im going for it!!! DIY overflow to sump.

It takes time for the debris to settle. It's easiest to put the sand in first... then add the water. It minimizes the cloudiness if you do it right. Anyway, you can buy marine aquarium clarifier that will greatly help clear the water. I've used it a few times.

    Q about MH lights

We haven't built the canopy yet... but I had already planned to put a fan or two in there to help remove the heat.

    Q about MH lights

Is there a downside to having the 14k vs. 12k ? The store I got some of these from has amazing tanks. One of them has to be every bit of 1000-1200G. He uses 20K in all of his. Everything I have is growing happily and splitting and budding and spreading... I just want to give it a little...

    Q about MH lights

Knowcrap... i'm not sure if you actually read what i posted, but i currently have MH + PC like you mention and I am talking about going to all MH. Scooterman: It's a standard 125... So it's 72"L x 20"W x 22"H. Right now there are a few fish, 4 anemones (2x bubble, 1x LT, 1x rock), a bunch...

    Q about MH lights

So we just upgraded from a 75G to a 125G but have yet to upgrade the lights... I have an orbit 2x150 10000K HQI + 4x96 ACT that is suspended over the 125 tank. Things are going ok, except there is an area on each side that is kinda dark because the light fixture is one 4-foot piece in the...

im going for it!!! DIY overflow to sump.

So I think I can answer some of this if you still have questions... Buffing acrylic: I've buffed out my headlight lenses (polycarbonate) and it wasn't too bad. It does take some time. If you have any deep scratches, start out with something like 220 or 320 grit. If they're shallow, go up to...

    DIY Stand Remodel

I recently built a stand (125G) a lot like that. Was also thinking of a way to fit the sump in there but i opted to put a center brace in and just push it through one of the sides. Looks like you used a lot more 2x4's than i did though. i have 7 vertical supports, 4 of which are doubled 2x4's...
