    A Solution to TDS Creep

I timed the RO water to its running TDS, it was about 5 minutes. The timer is set at 6. I never see 0 at my RO membrane. Running TDS is 12. That is a little over 97% efficiency from the membrane. I depend on the DI resin to take it to 0. No mater what the membrane is doing after the DI the TDS is 0.

    A Solution to TDS Creep

Thanks for the advice, I will keep an eye on it. Coming into the house TDS is as high as 500.

    A Solution to TDS Creep

After building my auto top off I eliminated the constant cycling that the RO/DI did with a float valve. This was a major improvement and has reduced how often I had to replace the DI resin. Yet looking at my TDS meter I have seen TDS creep as high as 250. It takes 5 minutes to remove the...

    auto-top off

As I mentioned in my post the schematic came from someone on RC. I too had a hard time understanding the schematic, I work with them all the time also. I will try to download schematic software and provide a easy to follow schematic.

    SEA SWIRL/K4 mod

I am glad there are no hard feelings my intent was not to steel the thread but, to show if you do not have a spare sea swirl, it is cheaper to make one instead of buying new and mod'ing. Any 3/4 O.D. rod or tube will work fine. My first units were made from 1/2 inch grey pvc. Some other...

    SEA SWIRL/K4 mod

I am glad you guys are liking the project but I simply do not have the time to build anymore at this time. The rotating motor came from ebay. Here is the link...

    SEA SWIRL/K4 mod

I get the motor for 10.00 the box for 4.00. The acrylic is from other projects, the links are 2.00 and the bearing is 3.50. Hardware is less than a buck and a cord is .50. The rest is time. There is no way I could do this just for the parts, sorry.

    auto-top off

This is taken from my local site. I have had this sitting around for a time and thought that I might as well finish it. I built the latching circuit from a guy who put it on RC; I have since forgotten his name. I still have the schematic. Today I made the bracket that will hold the float...

My New UV and Why I added it.

It is my understanding that these guys are rated for 3000 gph. I am using a Velocity T4 to push water through them. The Velocity sees about 12.33 feet of head and that calculates to about 947 gph. If I apply 20 gph to each watt then that comes out to 1600. I would be supprized if anything makes...

My New UV and Why I added it.

I once used an 8 watt UV on my 150g tank, when it was freshwater, heck that was over five years ago. I had the little white critters, about the size of a pin head that grew so fast that they made the water hazy. I hooked that little guy up and by morning the tank was clear. That little 8 watt uv...

Swirl Steins with Koralia 4 Mods

The motors are a bit difficult to locate. I found mine on Ebay. I am about to make 6 more for a lfs and those motors are coming from here. http://store.appliancezone.com/servlet/-strse-60044/Microwave-Turntable-Motor--dsh-/Detail

Swirl Steins with Koralia 4 Mods

Along with the mods I did with the old units I have done more. I have removed the grey pvc and installed clear 3/4 inch O.D. acrylic tube. I was going through my stuff and remembered that I had a solid piece of 3/4 inch acrylic rod. The bearings that I am using are 3/4 inch I.D. This allows me...

    DIY auto top off!

The float valve, seen in the second pic, is my safety. If the circuit fails then the float valve will stop the flow of water.

    DIY auto top off!

My system works like both ways like the auto top off should. It has a latching circuit that will allow the water to drop past the top float and the bottom float, before the pump or solenoid circuit is energized. Then to close that circuit the water must raise above the top float. Here is the...

DIY Calcium Reactor from Berlin Skimmers

have just made a small mod to my calcium reactor. I have moved the PH probe to the second calcium chamber. This will include a new DIY PH probe holder, which will have a quick release feature. It is made from a Guest fitting, that I got from Home Depot for less than $3.50. I picked up this idea...

Do you ever get tired of your heater suction cups?

I did and came up with a solution. I cut a 10 inch wide piece of 1/4 inch acrylic to about 2.5 feet. I then took out my propane torch and made some bends, they fit the rim of the tank and the lower area that holds the bottom of the heater. I cut another 10 inch wide piece to 2.5 inches; this...
