Thaks, I made them from 1/4 inch acrylic. If you follow this link you will find directions on how they where made. http://www.wichitaaquariumclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=460 After coming home I found my CO2 bubble count went up. It is now at 57 bpm. Checking my Ph it is at 6.74 and my...

DIY Calcium Reactor from Berlin Skimmers

This morning, the effluent was 6.83 ph the tank was at 8.1 like all mornings. I will test the alkalinity tonight. Last night the tank alkalinity was 11 dkh. I am dripping about 55 ml per minute of effluent and 37 bpm of CO2.

DIY Calcium Reactor from Berlin Skimmers

I have let the reactor run for 8 hours now at 20 bubbles of CO2 and 40 drips of effluent. The ph is 7.38 in the effluent cup this morning. I adjusted the CO2 to 30 bubbles per minute and will check the effluent tonight. My goal is to get the PH down first, then see 25 dkh in the effluent. Once...

    Diy Metal Halide

I spent $300.00 on the MH and $350.00 on the VHO. This includes bulbs, reflectors, hardware, ballast and wire. The MH ballast box was given to me. The reflectors are in the same position they where when assembled.

    Dowflake not safe?

I am sorry I cannot deliver a impurity profile. I have my experience of four years using Prestone Driveway Heat with good results. Also Randy Holmes-Farley, who has done the purity test on the Dow product, has said this, If Dowflake calcium chloride or a repackaged version (such as All-Clear)...

    Diy Metal Halide

I have not shown the tank or how it has looked now that the lights have burned in. At first my XM 400 watt 10k's looked yellow. They would overpower my 640 watt vho actinic's and still make the tank look yellow. After about a month the tank looks like I expected a crisp white.

    AC-70 Stream Mod

The impellers are from the original pump. I took the white paddle wheel off of the magnet and fit the modified pen to it. I then slid a piece of RO tubing in the pen and then the prop and screw.

    AC-70 Stream Mod

And the finished resut. I used http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=DX04. If I do any more I would use http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=BY0X02. They will hold twice the amount than the round ones do.

    AC-70 Stream Mod

The shower heads have 1/2 inch pipe threads on the pivot end. I had some old parts from a sprinkler installation and had a 1/2 riser. It is segmented so it can be cut. I remove one of the segments and set it aside. I removed the back panel of my AC-70 and drilled a hole. The hole is large enough...

    AC-70 Stream Mod

When the parts are reassembled they should look like this. Notice the little feet on the bottom, I cut groves in them to anchor them in the resin. When poring the resin take the assembly apart and just the lower part with the legs, it will be cast with the magnets. Here is a pic of the...

    AC-70 Stream Mod

I ran across a thread on RC. This guy built this and posted instructions. This is not a dngspot original. Here is his link http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1205480 Here is how I did it. I first followed his instructions and they did not work. The magnets are too weak...

    AC-70 Stream Mod

Oh yea, these little guys move water, alot of water. I do not know if it is 3000 gph, but they will raise the water in a 5 gallon bucket about 3 inches, with a 8 inch spred.

    AC-70 Stream Mod

It seems like a year ago I was cruising The "Hitchhiker's Guide" to the Maxi-Stream mod at RC. These guys where getting incredible flow from MJ 400, 600, 900 and 1200 pumps, I thought I would look further into the post, then discovered it was like driving through New Mexico, a few cool sights...

    sump upgrade

I would recommend that you use 1/4 inch glass. I have had a problem with my first fuge with 1/8, as I filled the first chamber the glass broke then the water from that chamber broke the next glass and so on. It sucked to watch that happen

    sump upgrade

I have seen folks put the skimmer in all sections of a refigum. If you put the skimmer in with the plants you may have a problem with the pump taking in the plant matter. There are fixes for this but, I like my skimmer in the tank drain end, so I do not have this problem.

    sump upgrade

I believe it may have something to do with age or uv.

    sump upgrade

Acrylic tends to shrink and expand, over time it will come loose from the silicone. My water flow moves from left to right in the sump pic.
