Help. Reeflo snapper makes loud grinding noise

Most of the things that you can get to easily are just the front impeller area and the fan sceen cover too clean the fan. the electrical parts are a little more tecnical and require more tools. The mention earlier about getting the owners manuel from the website is a VERY GOOD thing to have...

    Tang harassing new addition

If the Butterfly is still able to out run the Tang and is still eating eventually the Tang will get it. I would give it a week, dont worry so much it is the natural picking order being established and the Tang was there first, So it is HIS territory and everyone must know it... If the Tang...

Help. Reeflo snapper makes loud grinding noise

Yes, before tearing every thing apart check the cooling fan on the back of the pump and make sure it is clean and free of dirt. If you have too, disconnect the pump from the tank. Un screw the front bolts that hold on the front housing. When taking things apart always do it some place where...

Help. Reeflo snapper makes loud grinding noise

Sounds like you have sucked some sand into the pump. I would take apart the impellar assembly and give it a good cleaning. Make sure that you flush out the return line, to make sure there is no sand in the pipe. You can also sponge or bag the return until the sand settles. If you need more...

    Tang harassing new addition

The Butterfly picks at the rocks looking for pods and small critters to eat, the Tang thinks it is eating its algae. Try keeping Nori in your tank for a couple of days, the extra food should make him fat and lazy and not so interested in the new guy. The butterfly should also eat frozen Mysis...

    local custom glass tanks

So you could probably make that out of half inch...Which I believe would usually have to be cut to size and then shipped to your local glass shop. Should not be that hard to put together. Do you already have a stand? That size would probably be best to do it on site.

Death to all hard corals in my tank?

I would also like to add that you can test the water your frags are arriving in to compare conditions of what they are actually surviving in and what your conditions are. Hard corals also prefer more flow in thier system. But I agree that your parameters need to be adjusted and start with a...

Bubbles in the tank from the skimmer

I do not see the bubbles in the sump like it is coming out of the returns in the first pics you posted. I would definitly look at the plumbing connections leading up to the returns and make sure they are secure and not sucking air. This can happen with out leaking water out the pipes connections.

Bubbles in the tank from the skimmer

I was curious if you had any plants in your sump? It seems on occasion my skimmer will spit micro bubbles and fill the tank with micro bubbles. I thought possibly that the plants or something in the tank could be blooming or spawning cause the excess to the skimmer. I have also looked into...

    stand question

THose braces are just stabled in. I have remove them and then screwed them back in. The way these stands are made I would make sure to leave in the braces. Put the sump in and the put the braces back in for assembly. If you want to change out the sump later just remove the screws from the...

    Closed Loop and general plumbing

You also need the bigger holes to supply the pump with water. Most pumps running closed loops that I have encountered need a high volume access to water to move it through the tank.

    Purple color leaving corals

Sounds like you should get some tests kits or find a LFS that will test your water. Also the lighting could contribute to some of the problem. Old bulb, some times bad bulb. would do some tests and see where your parameters are, very soon.

    clock next to fish?

The fish should become use to the routine that you setup for them. Lights, movement, circulation and other house noises will become part of thier enviroment. I would not suggest Loud speakers, but the clock should be ok.

    Need advice moving 14g biocube!!!

I agree that all should be fine in a bucket as long as the temp stays close. You can always use blankets and such for going around the bucket for insulation. If the rocks are small enough you can always bag them if it makes you feel better. Most stuff is really pretty hardy, if it is more...
