I can not spend a lot of time on this now but the lab we have been working with has identified the parasite. Now they are trying to see where is comes from and how better treat it. When the results are completed, then we will post something on a online magazine or other publication.

Our race ways are shallow and we use 250 DE HQI, 10K and our photoperiod is 8 - 10 hrs daily.
As far as those juvenile clams go, (1") those are difficult to keep and the less you handle them the better.
Mike, I AGREE With you and have also read those papers. :) That is why I did those test a few years ago which prove that they needed to be fed and that can be done as well by feeding your fish, thus filtering the water.
AGREED!
Now OLD man, when are we going to get together. It's been a...
If I can add something here. :)
If you feed your fish/tank well, them you might not have to suppliment feed as the tridacnids will filter out the fish waste as well as other nutrient but feeding will not hurt and the clams will benifit from the food.

I think we would just be guessing as there is so many reason why this could happen.
Introduction of new animals.
pH, salinity or other chemistry swings.
New brand of buffers, i.e ( salt, suppliments)
Not washing your hands before placing into tank.
Normally spawning is triggered by some sort of stress.
At some of the clam farms, they will take a clam or clams out of the water for a period and then place it back into a holding area and then one will start to spawn and then becomes a chain reaction. Some will make it through the spawn...
Like Chris said, since you tank is so large,do some large water changes and adding some activated carbon will also help clean your water. If you have a skimmer, check that as well because it will fill it up.....
A juvenile coris wrasse also does a good job.
Normally you will find the snail around the byssal. Hope it has not hatched eggs or you will have several dozens in your tank.
Also do what Herefishyfishy suggested by cleaning shell and examine at least every week.

Like said above, Tridacna crocea seem to gap a little more than the other Tridacnids and I am not concern but if a maxima gaps then I get real concerned.
