    Uptown Reef: In the Work

Well I know some of you are more into the "natural" slice of the ocean look, but what really does it for me is the Japanese bonsai style tanks. So, here is what I have done with my move. I need to add about 30lb more rock to raise every thing a bit... but ... here is a teaser... more pictures to...

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

Charging batterys right now for the camera... Threes days since the move, haven't lost anything. One clam isn't fully open yet, but so far everything looks fantastic. I have to treat for bugs tomorrow, then just sit and watch. I think this tank is going to be just gorgeous in 3-4 months. -Erik

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

So far so good: Finished transfering everthing yesterday and this morning thing looked in good shape. No slimming, sluffing, stn or excess bleachine. There is polyp extension, even axial, on almost all of the acros and the clams are open (night-time open). The Tale: I ended up setting up a...

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

As I suspected Mike, I will need a larger closed loop pump. The returns are fine. Right now the loop is a heavy drool at best ; ) Ill just toss some PHeads in there untill I can get a new pump in next week. The pattern of the flow is great though so far as I can see from mixing the salt...

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

Well there are two small leaks and no amount of sloppin on glue is stopping them... Looks like I am in deep shit for lack of a better term. I guess I will spend tomorro getting some tubs and draining the tank, unless i can come up with something. Only about one drip per minute, but enough so...

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

Most likely paint it. Though I may just go for coralin coverage as most of the plumbing will be covered by rocks. -Erik

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

Doh! Sorry Mat : P I've been staying up till about 1 AM each night working on this tank. I am taking all tomorrow off to wrapp things up. Elmo, I will run over after dinner and get that bucket : ) Unless of course you want to come see the tank... heh

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

Pretty darn close Brett. You have the loop and intakes for the loop correct. The standpipes both empty into the sump next to a sedra 5000 which powers the skimmer. The return pump is mag9.5. The loop pump will most likely end up being something right around 2000gph like an iwaki 100 or...

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

Started filling her up lastnight. Have to get it all ready by Thursday evening to do the move. So much work, I just pray I don't have any leaks or I am in serious trouble. -Erik

    Uptown Reef: In the Work

Finished plumbing the little bastards today. Tomorrow I will be water testing it and then I will start moving things over on wednesday if all goes well. Which it will... or rather, must. Send good non-leaking thoughts to the plumbing gods for me. -Erik

    add ur koral pics

Might I ask, what is the purpose of your triplet of alliterative Ks in asking for pictures of our coral? Forgive the pedantic question, but something about that makes me raise an eyebrow. Maybe I'm just getting old. On a lighter note, what specificly are you looking for? -Erik

    ricordea and lighting

sorry, I misread and thought you had MH, vho will never be too much light for ricordea and I actually think they look better under halides. -Erik

    ricordea and lighting

Remember these are not your run of the mill corallimporphs, we are talking mushrooms that tolerate from much brighter light than Discoma sp. I have always kept my ricordea under MH and happen to think many of them look better under halides. You will notice if some begin to fade in color, but I...
