Bryan, A generous offer. I was wondering, since you were in the business of body art, if you knew anyone in seattle that did decent skin removal art or branding. -Erik

POll: What type of corals are you keeping

Good suggestion nikki, I have thought that option over. However, I don't want to add them to the tank as they will most cerntrainly die once the zoathids are gone and release unnecessary nutrient into the water, which I try to avoid in a tank as small as mine. Secondly, if they are not...

POll: What type of corals are you keeping

95% SPS (predominantly acropora), 1 Euphyllia glabrescens, 1 Scylomia sp. and a spattering of ricordea (Mostly R. florida). Clams are also a large part of my tank and my approach to husbandry. -Erik Don't tell anyone, but there are some little zoathus sp. zoanthids that I've been trying to...

skimerwhisperer: Looks like you got some nice stuff from Dang. You can always count on him to scour the local stores when shipments come in for the nice stuff. Have to agree with Ed and Kevin as well, I really enjoy the meets at Dang's restaurant, always a good time seeing everyone. -Erik

    Dipping small clams for pinching

Anicdotally, I have dipped small clams and never had problem. However, I have not found anything under 10 minutes in a fresh water dip to be of much use. Just my experience. -Erik

    Ghetto Reef: ~14 months

Some of you will remember this tank, so I thought I would give an update. I have been fighting some problems over the last three months, but things are slowly recovering. After treating for redbugs I ran into some nasty phosephates (as expected). Then there was the phos* media causing...

    SPS help

I too have a piece of this exact coral from the same mother colony and have nice head of it now, it is only purple/blue tipped not solid. I found that it becomes tan/brown with lighter purple/blue tips if it has too much light (growth of zooxanthelea being my assumption for the browning at that...

    A Warning about Red Bugs

Nikki, That was the whole intention of this thread to raise people's awareness. I don't particularly care who is going to treat and who is not. That is very much a personal choice. Another reason I did not mention the names of the store is because I would never assume the well being of my tank...

    A Warning about Red Bugs

Reed, for what it is worth I have spoken to many people that have used the Interceptor to treat their tanks as well as monitored threads on RC and RDO where people treating posted their experiences and have yet to hear a horror story. I set up a ten gal tank to put my crabs and shrimp in for a...
