    Hello from CDA, ID

Thanks Kirk, I have been following Mark Callahan's (Mr. Saltwater Tank) web show since August and I got his latest book on QT proceedures and they are right in line with Rob Fenner and Mike Palleta. I am looking at getting an RO/DI unit when I place the order for the skimmer and get that unit...

    Hello from CDA, ID

Well, the time has finally come to get this thing going forward. I know everyone says that it does not really happen unless there is photo proof. We moved to a different house and we placed the tank in the downstairs family room. I bought the backing yesterday and attached it with the help of...

Hi! New to Saltwater - First Tank Build. Need Advice.

Sounds great that you will get the tank this week. I am excited for you. Ipieces gave an excellent link for the sumps. I chose to copy the design that had the skimmer in the first part, the return in the middle and the refuge in the third with the overflow piped to both the skimmer side and...

Hi! New to Saltwater - First Tank Build. Need Advice.

If you can get the tank drilled, do it. It is alot easier to work with. Unfortunately, my tank was not drilled so I am using an overflow box since I do not have the nerves of steel to drill 1/2 inch thick glass.

Hi! New to Saltwater - First Tank Build. Need Advice.

Welcome to RF!I by no means am an expert. I am still very new to SW, but this is what I have learned so far:If your going to do a smaller tank than the 180, make the 50g tank the smallest size you want to go on the first tank you do. Size does matter due to stability of the system and the...

Contest for Newbies (Take Two) !!!!!

I know that this is not nessecarily the correct area, but are there issues with the site? The Home page just shows forum posts that are new (which use to be near the bottom of the page) and I do not see the other things that were at the top of the home page. Just curious. Also extending the...

    Todd's 125g Build (Part 3 = DIY East-to-West Linear LED Lighting)

I know, resurrecting an old thread. Curious if the canopy is complete. Would also like to get an idea of what type and how many LED's and dimmers/controllers used for your setup. Wife has asked me to look into doing LED instead of T5s if the price is right. Thanks, btw, tank looks really cool!

    Books

I have been looking for more reading material after I finished the suggestion by NC2WA. I have ran across this book a few times and it has many good reviews The New Marine Aquarium: Step-By-Step Setup & Stocking Guide: Michael S. Paletta: 0097818900875: Amazon.com: Books and I would like to...

120 Gallon Tank - Purchased! Now What?

Welcome to RF Emma. What NC2WA said about the book is 100% right on. I followed his advice about it and I am reading it again...since I am being patient about my FOWLR setup. I sent a PM to skimmy about a skimmer for my 120 gallon system and he gave this response: so for the skimmer it's...

New to the are of SW Aquarium

Hello all, it has been a bit of time and things have stretched out on the time. I recently (3 days ago) acquired 40 lbs of Pukani rock and 40 lbs of Key Largo rock. The rock is "Dead" meaning that it is dry. I have been reading about bleaching, cooking and acid bathing the rocks to make sure...
