    15 gallons of awesome.

What is the netting made from that it won't corrode? I love the idea that its tight enough to keep the jumpers in the tank but not so tight that it diminishes your lighting. I have the plastic 'egg crate' stuff along my back wall and the front panel of the glass top for my bow front but what...

    Dawn's new 36 bowfront aquarium

Sorry, poor choice of words. I meant I should have stirred up the surface of the sand since that part of the tank still has some diatomous algae.

    new sump build.

I have a 36 gallon DT and a 10 gallon sump, (so a similar size system) and I use a Mag drive 9.5 as a return. I bought the pump used and have had it on my tanks for probably 5 yrs. They are durable and reasonably priced. Mag drive makes a 500gph but you shouldn't throttle them back too much...

    15 gallons of awesome.

I can't wait to see it up and running. That looks to be a very cool little system. I'm looking forward to watching it progress!

Hey, another member from PA. I haven't seen many from our state. Glad you are in a position to get involved again and congrats on being free of credit card debt. Good for you!

I used image shack and I'm not techy at all. There is a sticky that gives you step by step instructions. It helped me.

    Dawn's new 36 bowfront aquarium

I should've at least cleaned up the sand before I took those pics. Today is maintenance day but it was more fun taking photos than lugging water. But alas, thats where I am off to now!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here's a close up of some of my other corals plus I'm practicing posting pics at the same time. I think I'm kinda getting the technology thing finally???????

    Dawn's new 36 bowfront aquarium

Wow I bet its really pretty. The colors on mine are not spectacular but I still think it is very pretty and I've never had a plate coral before. My LFS had a beautiful open brain but it was a bit out of my price range right now.

    Dawn's new 36 bowfront aquarium

Uploaded with ImageShack.us I got a new coral this weekend and I'm really liking it. Its a Fungai plate and it opened up and extended its tentacles right away. I have it placed on the sand bed,(although I put a little rubble rock under it so the sand wouldn't irritate its tissue) front and...

    29 Gallon Biocube

You may not be able to visually see a big difference in your DT but I'm pretty sure that if you were measuring your nitrates and such, that's where you'd find a difference. When I added a skimmer my nitrates went from 20 to 0. You can compensate by doing WCs but the skimmer will lessen your...

    Lets Talk UV Sterilizers

Its important to clean the quartz sleeve once a year or so too so that the UV rays hitting your water isn't diffused.

Lookin good. I'm guessing the hammer likes it better up higher. Are you happy with the skimmer? A little acan garden would be nice there in the front to the right of the xenia. Oops now that I look closer I think what I called a hammer is frogspawn. Its hard to tell on a mini tablet.

    Thanks pepie, breeders?

Do damsel fry go through a morph like clownfish? I'd probably try rotifer for food although live rotifer are a major pain! If the fry need live rotifer then they should be in a small tank where frequent water changes are possible, something like a 5 gallon with only an inch of water. That way...

    dimdims tank thread !

I didn't dry my sand. It literally went from one tank right into the other. Since you are drying it, rinse it very thoroughly as all the living organism in it will have died. It should still be fine if you rinse well.

    Hello

So true, nuisance critters can reproduce pretty fast and get a very stubborn foothold on a system if they aren't nipped in the bud!

    dimdims tank thread !

I had a 90 gallon set up for 6yrs and when I downsized I used that sand in 36 bow front. It didn't looked gunked up and it smelled like fresh clean salt water. It worked fine and your sand should too, especially only being 2months old.

That is what is so great about reef tank, lots of diversity. Something for everyone. My coral beauty never bothered any of my LPS and like you I also had frogspawn. Every fish is an individual though and I'd never say they were absolutely safe. You'll just have to watch him close when you...
