    How to catch a fish...

Hahahaha, yep or even an M-80. I have used a 2 liter bottle as a fish trap with good results. If you google 2 liter fish trap you will see how to make one. -Todd

    Cloudy eye on hippo tang

Thanks for your well considered response. I have made no changes as yet, and her eye looked much better last night. I do indeed have a skimmer, I run carbon (changed every 3 weeks), there is no detectable ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates. I test parameters very regularly and keep a log book. My...

    Monthly Get togethers!

Sounds like Todd has a plan, but Floyd, please get at least a C-141, we will be in the air all week in a 130 ;-) You know I will do me very best to be there whatever day you plan it. -Todd

    Question regarding LED lights

Thanks to both of you :-) I'm not much of a machinist but I had fun making the light. I will polish it this week and figure a way to get it to Floyd...

    Question regarding LED lights

Yep, that would work if there is good access to the top, and if there is enough slack in the wiring to allow it to move to the side. If the tank back is not against a wall, she should be able to just slide it back to access. I will grab thumb screws if I can find some in 10-32 local.

    Cloudy eye on hippo tang

Hi Lee, My hippo has a cloudy eye. This happened over-night. She is eating great, and I feed a well balenced diet based on your sticky though I typically only feed food once a day and attach nori twice a day. No new fish in the tank for many months. The only "news" in the tank is that the...

    Question regarding LED lights

So I see 2"wide by 3"long tang under the tank to hold the light. I can make that out of 3/16 aluminum and you can shim it if need be. How thick is the material that the tank sits on? If that feels like it will not be enough length to hold the light I might have to make it a bit bigger. Will you...

    Question regarding LED lights

Sheesh, Lorrie, I wish I had read this post before the weekend, that is good thinking. Moving the light out of the way is so obvious, but I missed it. I need to noodle that around a bit. Here are some early pictures of the light assembly before final route, fit and polish. No pictures of the...

    Need controller advice.

The Apex has a built in web server, so there is no software to purchase. I think the software you were looking at was for the older models. The web server has graphs for the probes you are running (you can grab the raw data as well) so no, there is no way that I am aware of to add your tests to...

    Question regarding LED lights

Ok, brief update :-) First off, the delay is in fact all me, Floyd was ready to rock when he brought it to me, and I said "Cool, but you know if we do this and change this and move that..." Long story short, I just HAD to tinker. So Larry W and I worked up a complete plan last night and I'm...

    Need controller advice.

If my Apex failed, I would purchase another the same day :-) While you don't get a reading for alk or Ca, you can indeed make dosing adjustments with the Apex remotely. More to the point, if you have your dosing setup correctly you will not need to make adjustments while you are away. Once...

    What do you guys think?

I have a turf algae frag. I'll give you a good price on it... I really do have some in my overflow if you want to kick-start the culture.

    Probably Shouldn't Have Done This.............

Much good advice already offered, but one point to clarify: Tigger pods are found in temperate water and I don't think that will reproduce long term in our tanks.
