    Algae on Acropora

Thanks, TC. Unfortunately, the acropora has cemented itself pretty firmly on the biggest piece of rock in the tank. Some of the branches are still holding on strong, but I'm not sure how long that will last. There's a small frag far away from the main colony which looks to be bouncing back...

    hexagon 5 gallon nano light?

I'd like to take this opportunity to plug the Indoor Sun Shoppe for your macro algae and mangrove needs! They have a lot of affordable light setups and a fine selection of carnivorous plants! http://www.indoorsun.com/Pages/plants.html

    Power Generators

As I'm sure many of you experienced this morning, power outages are a scare we would rather avoid in this hobby. Luckily, our power was only out for a few hours, but anything more can have dire effects on a captive reef system. My girlfriend has been pretty adamant about buying a small...

Whats this worth? Psychidelic Yuma Ricordia

Man, that's despicable. I know that a lot of people touch-up photos of their livestock, but this is over-saturated to the extreme.

    Algae on Acropora

In regards to using the Kent M; If the bryopsis is flourishing, that would mean there is a phosphat/nitrate problem, yes? At this point, those values are reading 0, or near to that. Would killing them off allow the phos/nitrates to spike? I could do a water change after the die-off, I...

    Algae on Acropora

Well, I finally attempted to move the coral about a week ago. It had grown onto the rock pretty firmly and I was not able to remove it from its spot. Some of its base cracked and became separated from the mothership. It now turns out that where ever I had touched the acropora, algae is...

    Does this Liverock look ok?

Saltwater City, down in Bellevue, also has some nano live rock, but I think it's closer to $4 a pound. It may be worth a look for some nice additions. Like what Plack says, you just want to make sure that you aren't getting pieces larger than your aquarium. :)

    Does this Liverock look ok?

Well it sure looks like a pretty sweet deal. You can actually cure the rock in your tank, but I'd forgo adding sand until the process is complete. Just keep doing water changes until the ammonia and nitrites read zero and skim, skim, SKIM! :) As a side note... Does that close-up of the yellow...

55 gal build 2 years in the making

The chromis will get used to it and find their own way with navigating the currents. I have the same pumps in a 65. The fish are initially offput by the amount of water movement, but quickly come to terms and embrace the situation. :) It's a shame that brace in the middle of the tank absorbs...

LOCAL FISH STORES where they are & why we like them

Saltwater City is down in Bellevue/Redmond, just South of the 520 and East of the 405. There are some really knowledgeable staff there and some great specimens. They've all looked healthy whenever I go in there. The corals are colorful and have a nice variety. The Fish Store, located in...

    Alarn for a disasterous event.

Your tragedy is a lesson for the rest of us. For that, I thank you. Water changes and a clean up would seem wise, but don't lose all hope! If the anemone is still alive in a small crevice, then it's likely that pods and microfauna would still be alive deep within the rock. Good luck to you. :)

    RO/DI solution? anyone?

What kind of boost pump did you use? Where did you end up getting it? How much do you think it optimizing filtration?

    RIP - Clown

Sorry for your loss, but you've kept that clown alive longer and happier than it would have been in the wild or other conditions. :)

Shouldn't they have been here by now? This smells a little fishy... :)

80 gallon tank ....will it hold these for a week

This reminds me of a thread on the Monster Fish Keepers forum entitled ":D When Freshwater Meats Saltwater." The guy acclimated some marine groupers into full freshwater. It's fun to play god, I guess.
