    mob of starfish (time lapse)

This looks like a really interesting series, but we can't watch it online in the States. Mr. Peacock, can you relate these episodes to me? Better yet, does anyone know where to find some good shows about nature and science online? reef-tube.com is nice, but I'm looking for something with a...

    mob of starfish (time lapse)

Ugh! They went through the eyes! That vision will haunt me 'til the end of my days, but maybe I'll put the imagery to good use. ;) Thanks!

    Just made my own food.

It looks like LEE isn't a fan of garlic at all! This thread has some pretty good information on marine nutrition: http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27158

    What color clams.

I loved the metallic blue coloration, but I saw a red leopard patterned mantle and turned to ooze at the sight!

Recommendation on cheap pump for top off?

www.ebay.com has made reefing about 1/4 of the cost. They all come by a different name, but it all depends on who you want to support, I suppose.

    Just made my own food.

The garlic is supposed to enhance appetite and palatability, from what I've read. There's also a boost to the immune system somewhere in the mix. If fish were anything like humans (like me, at least) there's nothing they wouldn't do for a little splash of garlic! :)

    Algae on Acropora

I had first purchased the acro attached to some live rock while my tank was finishing up it cycling. The rock was quarantined in a container, but was too tall to sit completely under water. There was a centimeter of acro sitting above the water's surface, which took its toll on the tips...

    Algae on Acropora

Is there a way to better aid the recovery of the acropora, or is it too late at this point? I have moved the halide so that it is not directly over the coral. As far as cyano growth is concerned, I could add some more flow to the tank. There is a 1300gph rotor pump in my garage which I could...

    My 65 Gal Setup

You guys are all pretty great and have priceless experience and information. Love this forum so much. Regardless of my post count, I read all of the new threads almost daily. Thanks so much, all, for making this hobby easier. :)

    My 65 Gal Setup

Hi all! It about time I posted my 65 gallon setup for anyone who is interested in giving critiques or just looking at some pretty pics. It's a pretty standard sized 65 acrylic tank with an overflow drilled into the back corner, which goes down into a 30 gal glass sump with refugium, ASM...

    Algae on Acropora

Hi all, It has taken a while to get some photos, but I managed to take these three days ago. Since the last post, I have moved the corals into the main tank from the quarantine. There is more stubborn hair algae on the tips, but it doesn't seem to have progressed down the rest of the...

    feed your reef

I'm new to coral keeping, but I've been using Kent PhytoMax and ZooMax and it seems to work well. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+7927+12212&pcatid=12212&r=616

    Chromis Vs. RBTA

Wow, that's terrible for your buddy! How big were the RBTA and Naso? Was the tang in poor health, or just not fast enough? I haven't seen any physical evidence of a fish left to rot (which rarely ever happens in a labyrinth of rockwork and plethora of little scavengers, but the RBTA did...

    Chromis Vs. RBTA

Hi all, When it comes to feeding time, I'm usually greeted lovingly by my green chromis. Today, however, I spied one less chromis than was to be expected. I'm not sure what happened to the little chap. After doing a full water test, I've found my ammonia to be higher than the norm...

Making use of that leftover RO water

Hi all, I have recently welcomed an RODI unit into my household. It's a nice houseguest, but boy does it waste a lot of water! I was surprised to find that it refuses about 4 gallons to 1 gallon of purified water (even more now that it's cold outside). Since I have the pleasure of paying...

    stunning reef tank....

I see a black and yellow tang in there. Are these present in the hobby or world, or has this guy managed to cross breed a yellow and a black tang in captivity?

Who has a Bulk Reef Supply RO/DI 5 Stg Unit?

Hey, did you end up getting that Typhoon, or something else?

The poor thing! Did the clam make it?

    Choosing the right RO/DI Unit

The Typhoon is here! I'm almost kicking myself for not paying the extra $60 and getting the Typhoon III with the free TDS meter, but I figure this is awesome enough. Since I don't have the TDS meter, I need to go on faith that this product will produce the results I need. Their FAQ says that...
