    Marks on my crocea clam

Not sure if what's noted above is the swing in 24hrs. Or if just the range it's kept in. Agree, of this is the swing in 24hrs, it's a lot.

    in almost direct sunlight

Could be, but keep in mind algae needs nutrients to grow, so maybe not. What is your tank Phosphates and Nitrates? Keeping in mind it even though our test kits read 0 it may not actually be 0 as most kits in this hobby don't read lower than 0.00ppm. Which doesn't mean phosphates aren't there...

    pre mixed saltwater

Head on down to Home Depot and pick up a Rubbermaid Brute trash can, the gray ones with a lid. You can even pick up some caster wheels on a plastic piece that will attach to the bottom for moving around if required. It's what I use and it's nice knowing I have approx: 40 gals ready to when I...

    New to saltwater and corals.

Welcome to RF. as for the water changes. If you have the space I would recommend a storage container for ore made salt water. I use a 44gal Rubbermaid Brut trash can with the roller wheels on the bottom. I always have about 40 gallons of heated ready to go SW. Just put a power head in to mix and...

    Zoas regaining their strength?

Just put a piece of red cellophane or transparent film you can get at a craft store of the flashlight. Rubber band it on and good to go.

    Ruff night tonight

Sorry :( our pets become part of the family and their loss is just as hard to accept.

    New kid on the block

I personally like the MP product. No cords and/or anything inside the rank generating heat. Even though I think this is low with the Tunze's also. I have 1 MP40 on each side/ends and an MP10 on the back. I can create my own snow globe in my living room if I want.

    Sick Niger Trigger?

:( sorry for your loss. As stated before sometimes these thing just happen. Things out of our control causes and creates only more questions to which no answer exists. Power outages are hard and I've heard about and seen complete tanks crash due to extended power outages.

    RBTA split

I butchered the heck out of my comment using my phone. Try this again. This is probably one of the only times it's acceptable to say, "congrats on the split".

    Sick Niger Trigger?

Well I'm going to honest here also. Sometimes things just happen in this hobby. You're doing what you've been doing for a long time, everything doing great and out of the blue something happens. Be algae issues, loss of animal, etc. We all do our best at this and though a lot of it is a science...

    Sick Niger Trigger?

No problem and I hope the advice helps out. FYI. I wouldn't do just one water change. You're looking at doing water changes for the next few days to help get the ammonia and nitrites down. Keep up with them until they read 0 on the the test kits and the larger the better at this point.

    Sick Niger Trigger?

Stick with the tests you're using. Test strips are notorious inaccurate. Good for a quick test but not a good means of provide actual results. Has anything died in the tank recently? How long has the tank been up? It's unusually to see a increase in ammonia and nitrite in an established tank...

    Sick Niger Trigger?

To add to what has we mentioned before the Ammonia and Nitrite need to be 0. Assuming the testing is accurate. Anything above 0 can and is very toxic to the tank inhabitants. As for the PH, again assuming the testing is accurate, is low also. And should be raised to 8.2-8.3. You don't mention...

    Skimmer only filtration

I think you'll find a lot of people successful with this method. :) Even if you look at the elaborate systems with all the bells and whistles. At the core/foundation is a good skimmer and water changes.

    Are your zoa's not opening.

Read the directions as most will have a per gallon ratio. With RC it's pretty much 1/2 cup per gallon works to be right around 1.026. Check it and adjust one way or the other, add more salt or add more RO/DI water. I can mix about 40 gallons using his method and be pretty much spot on.
