BobinCovington's new system "makeover"with sump stand, elos tank and...

I will Cy, just give me a bit to get everything stabilized. I bought the rocks from Barrier on Sunday and it was the stuff that had been curing for a year, so my cycle should be pretty short right?

BobinCovington's new system "makeover"with sump stand, elos tank and...

I finally have water flowing and lights shining. I have a lot to still do, but it feels good to see this thing come to life. Still need to add the T5s and arrange the rock and a ton of other "buttoning up" on the system. I need to raise the water level in the tank by adding a taller baffle in...

BobinCovington's new system "makeover"with sump stand, elos tank and...

Don delivered the hood (thanks Don) and the pvc plumbing under the house is done (phew, what a task). The tank is on the stand and we are trying to figure out the final placement (angled or flat against the wall). I am mixing salt water in the garage and will be trying to button up all the...

isn't there a thread that shows the avg parameters of each of the salts when mixed properly? I have used both IO and Reef Crystals with good results.

RO/DI system designs for filling fresh water and salt mixing

I am thinking through my RO/DI water system and looking for some feedback. I have the RO unit but I want to run water to three places from that single water supply. 1 Auto fill my 25 gallon freshwater tank and then shut off with a float switch (for top off via osmolator to the sump) 2...

BobinCovington's new system "makeover"with sump stand, elos tank and...

Thanks, love to have you see it. When I get water flowing and some rock and sand in there, I might buy some beer, wine and some goodies and have an "open house" for a few people who want to see it on a Saturday.

Mark modded the Sedra 7000 impeller on the Warner Marine AS150 skimmer and we put a larger, easier to control air valve on the air intake. Can't wait to see this skimmer suck air and produce some nice foam.

This is the sump bench in the garage. Sump fits in there nicely and it will eventually have everything in and be clean looking. In the middle of this project, the bench also seems to be the place to set everything...what a mess in the second photo! The third photo shows the set of custom...

BobinCovington's new system "makeover"with sump stand, elos tank and...

Here is the tank: dimensions are 36"x20"x22" tall, sitting on the floor with the back now painted. The flash makes the lighter colors seem even lighter, but when it is full of water it will look better. The 1/2" thick glass just looks sweet (except for the fingerprints).

Don stopped by with the stand this afternoon. It looks so much better than I hoped for. Beautiful red-heart maple turned into heirloom quality furniture in the hands of a craftsman. Don bought the whole tree this wood came from! The pictures do not do it justice. 36"x20" foot print. There...

How to Make a Safe Water Change for Fish

Something like this works great for mixing salt...Without the blue frame stand, mine was only about $50. Mine has a loose fitting flat lid that just rests on top (not making a seal) and allows for powerhead cords or tubing. I think they make a version with a cone shaped bottom so you can draw...

    Keeping Starfish for Harliquin Shrimp

So I know I don't even have water in my new tank yet, but what is the best way to keep starfish to feed these little guys? I have been thinking about getting a pair, but I hate the idea of having these shrimp and running out of food for them Should I keep some blue Linkias or other less...

this is a hell of a lot of work...I think I am losing steam. Maybe I should put an easy button on the panel

    A little help with lights.

I had a 29 gallon tank with a single 175 watt metal halide and 2 T5s. My anemones did great and lived for several years, (one lasted from 1997 - 2007).

what is the best fan to attach to a Luminarc mini with 4" diameter outlet

is the coral vue about the same as the ice cap variable fan? Don, is yours a short length of duct with a fan in it?

what is the best fan to attach to a Luminarc mini with 4" diameter outlet

Thanks Don, are these the high power ones and really noisy??? I am just looking for a quiet little fan to vent the heat from the bulb. and quiet enough to run in my living room on a hopefully "silent" elos tank

what is the best fan to attach to a Luminarc mini with 4" diameter outlet

What is the best (and quietest) 4" fan out there for attaching to the cooling duct outlet on my Luminarc mini. What places carry the ducting (and the fan)?

leaking 54 gallon corner all glass tank

My brother down in Oregon has a 54 corner tank that has developed a very slight leak at the lower seam (drip). He is going to tear everything down and look for a new 54 tank, but is he out of luck or can he have that tank re-sealed?
