    Crazy-face worm

Okay, looks like a polychaete worm, segmented, black/brown with a white ring around the neck. Crazy moustachio'd face. Any idea? Ribbon worm, maybe?

    Anthony, another ID...Strange algae

You're always so helpful with ID's...This one has us all stuck. Tank owner's description of the stuff: Well, I can tell you these things for sure; very dark brown, plating, parts that grow off the rock(out into space) can be peeled off, peeled off chunks feel like slimy plastic(hard), won't...

    Crazy ID...Pretty red squishy thing!

Someone else says they have something similar: They swear it's not a macro. Maybe a softy? Has similar characteristics to the one above: fast growth, very squishy, slimy "body", attached at one end.

Heh... Trust me, if it were MY pic, it'd be a red blur! :D But I'll see what I can do. Thanks again! You're always so helpful. :)

what's up with my leather coral?

Shirley, you should read up on sun corals. Their true name is Tubastrea. It's not thriving... The spaces between the "lumps" are just skeleton, so it isn't eating what falls there. Have you seen it open up? They need to be fed at least every other day, directly.

Almost burned the house down... Be warned!

Well, I have my heater inside the Remora, with the cord leading out of the outlet. The water was running across the cord, and I guess it caught a trail down, and you how water works--it's like ants; once it moistens a trail, it speeds along much more quickly. I fixed it now, turned the cord all...

Almost burned the house down... Be warned!

Yeah... I'm a little scatterbrained, which is why I don't have a sump (until I can get the guts to do it....YEARS, it's been!)... I must have flooded the store about half a dozen times. :D But the other young guy there was worse--I think he was some kind of pot-head. They must have thought I...

40-80 watts in a fish only setup??

There's no problem, as far as the lighting. (As other members have said, there's a lot more to algae than just lighting--mainly nutrients.) Just keep the color spectrum above--or at least at--6500K, as plants tend to prefer more yellow or red light. And replace your bulbs regularly--fluorescents...

Almost burned the house down... Be warned!

The importance of a drip-loop... Well, last night I was setting up a new tank—a 35 tall AGA with glossy black finish stand and canopy, and ultra-thick 3/8” glass, really nice—while watching Johnny Depp on Jay Leno. I’d removed the entertainment center that had been holding the...
