    DIY Stand Remodel

Is it possible to do a door on the end of the stand, allowing you to slip in your 55 gal sump, so you can still have a middle support in the front? I'm not sure I would be extreamly comfortable with 125 gallons of water sitting over that large of a gap in the front of the stand.

    Need tang/fish advice

This probably should be its own thread...but I would recommend that after any new addition has gone through its QT time, and you are ready to add it to your main display...you try totally re-arranging your rockwork. This tends to disrupt the territory boundaries our fish have setup, and helps...

    DIY Kalk Dripper

Also... mix up your Kalk an hour or more before you do start your drip, to allow that settling to occur.

    DIY Kalk Dripper

I used this setup on my old 75 gallon setup, where I evaporated about 1.5 gallons a day. I believe the Oceanic Jug was just under 1.5 gallons of water (about 1.3-1.4 gallons???)... so I was manually adding about 1 gallon of RO/DI a week to keep the system filled fully. The drip rate I set...

    DIY Kalk Dripper

Keep in mind, with this dripper, it needs to sit above the tank (sump), so gravity does the job of siphoning it from the jug to the tank (sump).

    DIY Kalk Dripper

JBeltMann, 1st... WELCOME TO REEF FRONTIERS!!!! :D :D :D Unfortunately, I don't have the dimensions of that Oceanic Container...but in your case I don't think that really matters. ANY plastic container will work for this type dripper. You simply pick one that will fit in your stand (milk...

check valve for my new tank?

Dang, If you are set on using the Check Valve setup, I believe as long as you are extreamly diligent on your maintenance with them (doing the shut-off valves, so you can remove and clean) and during that maintenance you are inspecting for any wear damage as well... that your idea of the Check...

    Monster Emperor Angelfish question

Fred, I understand that many people still don't use (understand the need???) for a good QT setup... but I think as Lee has pointed out, this is one of those PERFECT examples of where using a QT would make life for our new fish soooo much more easy on us and then. Right now, you new beautiful...

check valve for my new tank?

Dang, I believe the most common problem with using Check Valves is they will (over time) build up from the Calcium in our tanks and stick in the open posistion...or at least not fully close. For my ease of mind, it was a much safer option to ensure I used a syphon break on my return lines so...

Pros and Cons of LR in sump

Jan, I think you have already stated both the Pro's and Con's of having Live Rock in your sump. Pro - Improved bio-capacity of your system, with the possibility of using less in your display. Con's - Having Live Rock in your sump, you won't be able to clean the detritus that developes...

    New Reef tank!

I wasn't able to find the "honeycomb" rock on Saltwaterfish dot com... but I would immagine if they are selling it there for reef tanks, it should work fine for base rock. For 99% of anythying you would get for your tank, a 29 gallon QT tand would work super, no worries! I don't have any...

    Blue Jellyfish!!!!????!!!

Just doing a quick Google search on "Kreisel Tanks"... I found this link, that has a start of information about Jellyfish in home Aquariums: http://www.aquarium-design.com/invert/jellyfishpets.html They are showing several books on that page, that would also be a very good start at gathering...

    New Reef tank!

As much as I love Achilles tangs, I definately will NOT recommend you try one in a tank as small as a 75!!! They are constant swimmers, need about a 6' length just to be semi-happy. For a 75, I would recommend a Yellow Tang. Again, as other's have mentioned... only ONE Tang! I also recommend...

    Blue Jellyfish!!!!????!!!

I had always assumed the feeding requirements of the Jellyfishes needed them being in a Species-Only tank??? What is the care and feeding on these? Looks very interesting, and I'd like to learn more! :)
