    tube snails

Those would be Vermetids my friend. A somewhat harmless pest worm that can breed prolifically. Here's a good article about them. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rs/index.php

is high calcium a bad thing???

Actually no, not necessarily. I wouldn't trust your salt mix and straight calcium carbonate is not going to do it. Get the Mag test kit and see where you stand first. If there's an issue you can dose Kent Tech-M to straighten it out. ;) Reef Crystals is a good salt. Made by the same...

    Sand

I'm not quite getting it... Caribsea makes dry aragonite sand. Pure aragonite. Your live rock will seed the sandbed. You won't be introducing anyones problems. ;)

    I need some help please!!!!

Adding an animal will only increase the bio-load, which would be a bad thing because your ultimate goal here is to limit nutrients. I would start by manually removing as much as you can first. Get to the source of the nutrient problem. I suspect nitrates and phosphates are the issue. Also...

is high calcium a bad thing???

The Phyto/Zoo plankton is your choice. Personally I don't use it because the fish poo is enough to feed my corals. The bleached corallline could be from many reasons. Low calcium levels (which you are fighting at the moment?, lighting, exposure to air, etc... I wouldn't worry about it too...

is high calcium a bad thing???

Cool, good luck! Just try to get the Mag test soon. Most likely if there's a problem, it will be on the low side. Instant Ocean is chronically low in Mag. The only side effect will be the ability to raise and hold calcium levels up.

Whats the worst thing that could happen

Yeah, that would surely bring the calcum level up. Make sure you target 380-450ppm. And, always use the calculator. :) Reef chemicals calculator http://home.comcast.net/~jdieck1/chem_calc3.html

    Spikey slug id

That looks like a zoanthid eating nudibranch. Could very well be a Monti eating variety. Either way i'd get it out asap. ;) Does it look like this close up? Zoa Eating Nudi http://www.melevsreef.com/id/dc_nudibranch.html Monti Eating Nudi...

I have switched to a new salt.

Very nice, auqua man. The levels look right on. Even better if the salinity was 1.026 I would bet. :)

    Sand

You do know it's going to be live once you put it in your tank, right? :D Caribsea makes great dry substrates. My favorite is the Fiji Pink. It's very white. :)

    bottom substrate

In the long run I think you'd be much more happy with an aragonite sand. Also, I'd stay away from wet/dry filtration. Over time, you'll probably see a nitrate problem. If you have at least 1lb/gallon of live rock, plenty of flow, and an quality skimmmer, that's all you really need as far as...

is high calcium a bad thing???

Calcium carbonate buildup will look like bleached coralline. It's just a hard, white buildup on your equipment. I don't really have a problem with it. If you are using Kent Turbo Calcuim or Kent Liquid Calcium, it will only raise your Calcium level, nothing else. Kalk and 2-part additives...

is high calcium a bad thing???

The "Kent marine Concentrated Liquid Calcium" is fine. It is basically the same as Turbo Calcium, just in liquid concentrate form. Use the calculator and you'll be fine. I recommend manually adjusting your levels, just like Randy said in those articles first. Then, maintain with an...
