New home for three musketeers - Marineland 93G cube reef build

Pictures - 2010/09/16 Finally got around taking and posting some pictures, using my trusted "vintage" first generation digital point-and-shoot camera... After a few months, you can see the growth in this tank. I also played with the lights a bit... Replaced the 400W single HQI DE with 2x250W...

PSAS Frag swap Sept 18th 2010

Awesome! Point-and-shoot type probably does not cut it, but those are what I have. I will bring them along and see what magic you can pull out of them :)

PSAS Frag swap Sept 18th 2010

This is bound to be another great event arranged by PSAS. Exciting! We will finally have a chance to see Myteemouse's tank where all these great photos show up in various threads (a bit of a drive for us, but always worth it). Adam, it will be great if you could squeze in some time for photo...

    Help with an ID please...

Agreed with Todd, they are pocillopora buds, especially after you described all the struggles the mother colony had; it probably had lots of polyp bail-out.

    June meeting

It was a great event, like the other PSAS events. Nice to meet everyone and put faces/names with forum aliases. Thanks especially to Mike for hosting this event. I did not catch whom brought the Idaho grape frags. I got a pretty good size frag, and already doing great in my tank. Awesome...

    ac7av tank build

Sure thing, no problem. Regarding frogspawn not expanding much, it has pretty much the same requirements as the hammer coral. Since your hammer coral looks fine, I suggest you either match the flow and light to that of hammer coral, or move the frogspawn around the same area as hammer coral for...

    ac7av tank build

By the way, nice and pretty elaborate setup. Where did you get the billion copepods? :) I want to get some also... anywhere local? Didn't come across any local LFS that has those kinds of things.

I think he meant this: which shows the image inline on your post (so that we do not click on the link to see the picture). To do this, when you reply, click on the little screen-like icon (on the line right above the text box you are typing your message) and enter the http:// address of the...

What salt mix are SPS-ers here using?

So far used IO, Reef Crystals, Kent, and finally sticking with Oceanic. Like Oceanic best. Dissolves almost as you pour it into the water, with no residue whatsoever. Cleanest looking salt. Ca level is good and a bit on the high side, need to very carefully dose Alk once you stabilize Ca around...

    Haddoni Carpet Anemone Placement?

Too bad, probably got some bacterial disease (just a guess). Any chance you can try to rescue it in a separate small tank all by itself, small powerhead, light and air stone, with frequent small water changes?

    best 10k 400w

If you are going for fast growth and don't mind yellowish look, IMO you will get very good results with 400W SE bulbs in following order: Iwasaki 6500K XM 10K Ushio 10K

Anyone coming to the BBQ who has a Bob Moore blue stag frag/branch? Love to get one of those. Max

    Rob's 93g 30"x30"x24" Marineland Cube

Good looking tank. Like your rock work. I have the same tank with starphire front, and similar peripherals. Thinking of adding a few large pieces of dry rock. Where is BRS (what does BRS stand for?) that you got your dry rock?

    Let's See Some Zoos!

Amazing pictures. Up until now I was not much into zoas, until drooling over some of the great pictures here. Myteemouse, we need some photo lessons (may be next club meeting?). :) Those are some nice close-ups...

    SPS grow (pictures heavy:))

Yes,that's it. Looking good. I wish I had more space here to post larger pictures; I had to scale down to 10% to fit ReefFrontiers image limit. I will look into Photobucket or some alternative.

HQI light question? Time to update again.

To prevent carbon particles leaching to the tank, make sure to use it either in a filter sock in your return from tank, or use floss material after carbon stage. Otherwise, you might have some black carbon dust particles in your tank. I don't think they really hurt anything, but... You do not...

    SPS grow (pictures heavy:))

Interesting.... I guess I don't know the names much and I had one of those in my old 225G setup. I always liked it and had to give away to someone about 4 years ago before we moved to Seattle. If you ever frag it, may be we can trade for something. Here is the picture of what I had, looks...
