sorry to hear all the problems and losses. Nice setup though, really like the open canopy look. Keep it up, will look nice once you get the temp under control.

HQI light question? Time to update again.

Not related to light, but do you use Carbon? if not, I suggest to check into it and give it a try. Really helps with removing yellow tint.

HQI light question? Time to update again.

I checked your video with lots of damsels/cromis feeding. Looks like a nice tank. I noticed a bit yellowish though. Is it because of the viewing angle or the water, hard to tell?

    Haddoni Carpet Anemone Placement?

With anemones, if you can avoid the urge to control where it settles and how it does it, I suggest do not mess with, touch or move it. It should find its spot by itself, provided your water parameters/flow and light are good. Also keep in mind for the future, if it ever grows to be 24-36" size...

    how to choose MH bulbs???

saltwaterfishes: In my experience, in general any light with a strong spike around 420-460nm gives good color perception and growth (provided water condition/flow are not variable in these setups). Check Radium and Helios for example. If you want faster growth (but not desired color perception...

    how to choose MH bulbs???

Depends on what color you like. I have many ballast/lamp combinations and have been trying many color temperatures for years. There is simply not an end to this... :) Sometimes I like the warm and day-light look of 10000K, sometime blue crisp of 20000K. Note also that not all 20000K are the...

Curious, what kind of ballast did you use with them?

    flower anemome

That is a nice looking anemone. Looks like the kind that attaches to rocks and does not move much once settled getting the flow it likes (hence also called rock anemone).

    What happened to Helios?

I love the look and punch of 250W DE 20000K Helios. I know many places stopped selling them due to quality and warranty issues. However, I have never ran into a problem. Does anyone know if they are still around and where to get those? Also, if you used the ebay version of 250W DE 20000-22000K...

HQI light question? Time to update again.

I bought a 400W DE 20000k version of this bulb and have been very pleased. It is a bit hard to find good 400W DE bulb (too few choices) and I like this bulb a lot for about $20 a piece. Even if it might end up lasting 3-4 months, I would still get it (however still going strong after 3 months...

    June meeting

Adam, is the raffle similar to the last frag-event (greatest I have experienced) in Kent? How does it work? I became a new member then, do we just buy additional tickets at this event to participate in the raffle? I was planning on getting one of those reefkeeper lite's and couldn't find it...

    ACrO Macro's (pic heavy)

Thanks; I don't want to hijact your thread, however, I always thought I needed more light than 250W'ers (400W DEs or more for example) to bring out crazy colors. What do you feed, anything live (such as zooplankton)? Could you post a pic of the rainbow monti also, or is it one of the pictures...

Tank with Water - First Day Tank full of water, all operational: So far lost one fish unfortunately: Powder Blue Tang. It got ick and couldn't get rid of it... I think I will stay with 2 tangs (RedSea sailfin and RedSea Purple tangs). They seem to get along very well with the Scribble...
