    found a yellow ball sponge

I found a little 3/4" dia. yellow ball sponge that was on the underside of a piece of live rock I've had for maybe a couple of months. I gently pulled it out of it's crevice and place it in a crack of my rock so I see it more, is there any special requirement for this little guy? It was getting...

    55 gal fowlr

I'd see if you can take back that dottyback, horrible little fish(much worse than even damsels of the same size). Only thing I've seen the bicolor/purple/skunkback dotty's (which all seem to have the exact same temperament) leave alone are clowns, angels, and aggressive fish much bigger than...

    Fowl

puffers and lions or triggers and lions will get that lions fins picked at, and they never grow back half as nice looking. i've heard triggers bothering porcs before, but I know they can get along sometimes. I know multiple spcies of lions together work great if they're all about the same size...

    The best bought mandarin food

I've had a new mandarin for about a month that eats hikari enhanced brine & the crud that comes from 'pygmy angel forumla' like a champ, and he doesn't seems to be hunting around too much for food(i have 15-20lbs of pretty diverse liverock), hopefully i have i got some pods for him to eat, but...

    new lighting

I'd say for 28" tall you'll want 400watts if you plan to keep your bulb another 6"+ away from the top of the water because of heating issues, and closer would probably scorch anything too close to the top anyway. imo if you're gonna put any type of hard corals or clams anywhere near the bottom...

Best Filter for Live Reef ?

While I don't know exactly what it's called, I heard from pretty knowledgable friend that many corals, in their efforts to grow and expand themselves, occasionally put out "chemicals" that supposedly inhibit nearby corals from growing. If that's true, wouldn't using carbon really help remove...

    shrimp

i'd stay with what you have rather than add shrimp that *may pose a problem, maybe get a couple of peppermints if you want another shrimp

Help with choosing live rock, please!

I think the pound of live rock per gallon is a rough rule when trying to aid in natural filtarion/denitrification. Some people like the rock to be no higher than about halfway up total heighth of the tank, some like it much higher at the place i work at, we weigh it out of the water real quick...

Help with choosing live rock, please!

carribian tends to be very dense tho (equals more money for less space and surface area in your tank). since we're all looking for rock that "appears" the biggest, i like tonga shelf(makes little caves and overhangs very easily) and tonga branch pieces and some stuff i've seen recently out of...

Fish selection for 26 gal, newbie needs advice.

I'd get the bi-color blenny OR the yellowwatchmen OR royal gramma. I've had'em all and while yeah, they're pretty mellow but fun to watch fish, they are a bit territorial when put together, always flashing they're mouth open theateningly on anything that invades their space(which will be on the...
