    Bryopsis/Kent Tech M Question

After nuking it with Mg, I did LOTS of H2O changes. 50g every 3 days for two weeks and now 30 a week for maintenance (Just make sure your H2O source is good :)) I've noticed one or two little spots where algae has come back (appears to be more of a turf algea then that wonderful bryopsis)...

    Bryopsis/Kent Tech M Question

I took mine from 1300ppm to 1800ppm in a week. The bryopsis died off that's for sure but it caused my sps to rtn, my lps to bleach, and my softies to vomit their insides. I'm currently bryopsis free but at the cost of most of my sps colonies and some serious color loss on my softies and lps...

Ben- Your tank is looking great. Haven't seen it in awhile but it looks like it's growing out and filling out nicely. Those dendros are awesome. I was looking at those colonies but i didn't have the $$. Looking good.

    4mm Star-ID needed!

it amazes me how year after year these little buggers come and go. I've had times when they seem to be everywhere and then months where i can't find a single one. I've never had any problems with them and even had a yellow tang that seemed to like to snack on them.

MH question. I want more blue

The hamilton 14ks are definately really bright and more on the blue end. I've always been happy with them BUT I'm a sucker for the 20k radiums :)

    hare alge

If it's bryopsis, I used tech-m. Worked great except it bleached alot of my lps and softies in the process. They're getting their color back and I've been doing alot of water changes. The water changes seem to be doing the trick more then anything else I tried. Try to remove as much as you...

    How much is too much...

Just checked the water after filling my last 55 gallon drum tonight (200g so far) 0.000 The canisters are ~1.5 times the size of a 5lb CO2 canister. Like I said I'm no water expert but I'm sure the people at custom pure would be happy to answer questions and clarify how they work exactly.

    How much is too much...

As far as the d/i resin is concerned...the system that i have has a mixture of cation and anions is solution. The unit is pretty large and has the capabilities of doing ~1200 gallons or more (depending on initial water quality) before it's exhausted. That is the beauty of these units. As for...

    How much is too much...

Well I did an 85 gallon water change, changed my carbon, re dialed in my protein skimmer and blew off the liverock. I'm going to do another 55 gallon change tues, thurs, 85 gallon on Sat and see where we're at from there. Then I plan on doing regular 30-50 gallon changes once a week for...

    How much is too much...

This is the system that I'm talking about if you want some more info. I'm no water expert so decide for yourself. They were very helpful at the store and I explained to them the importance of removing impurities and this is what the recommended. http://www.custompure.com/doc/mb.htm

    How much is too much...

I started off with 50 gallons this morning and have 30 more mixed up for tonight. I was going to do 30gallons every other day for the next two weeks to see how that does. BTW anyone that is in the north seattle area, custom pure on 175th and 15th sells these awesome water filtration units that...

    How much is too much...

Any opinions out there about doing too many water changes to your tank? I'm curious if there are any negative affects to doing 10% water changes every couple of days? If you're using good ro/di water (tds of 0) and a decent salt mix (and matching temp/s.g.) then no harm right? Just a massive...

    bryopsis help please.

I'm giving up on the Tech-M method. It definately killed quite a bit of the bryopsis but in the process has bleached a good deal of my softies and lps and now today I'm noticing some "Mg burn on my sps". It seems like the Tech-M also caused my Alk to go crazy. Now that the majority of the...

    bryopsis help please.

So the die off of the bryopsis has definately slowed down significantly. I'm not sure how long I'm willing to keep the levels this high as I've noticed some bleaching of soft corals (ie mushrooms) as well as some lack of polyp extension and stress to my sps (montis especially) Any thoughts?
