Ever hear of coral eating Hermits?

I've definately seen them swarm corals that are super stressed/dying. I had some that would eat the dying flesh around frags of acans that I had but never went as far as nipping at healthy pieces. I have heard of some PB tangs "grazing" as well. Good look

    bryopsis help please.

I guess I'll chime in here on the Tech-M experiment. I just dumped 1.5 gallons into my system this weekend. My Mg level is around ~1800ppm currently. In two days I've noticed the stuff on the back glass turn from green/brown to grey/white. Some patches on the liverock seem to be physically...

    Soyadrink's (Nelson) 50g

I say go for a 20k radium if you like em blue (just my opinion) You can take one of my older bulbs to see if you like it when I get the new ones in the next couple of weeks here. I also have some older Ushio 20ks...not much of a difference from the hamilton 20ks if you want to see those in...

    ouch ouch and more ouch

If I were you, I would take her back to the vet to have this looked at. Sometimes dogs can develop a hernia at the spay site. It could also be a fluid filled sac or possibly even some sort of infection. For a dog to show teeth and try to bite their owner, there is something seriously...

    I'm Back...

So after being internetless for over a month I'm back :) For all of you that sent me pms over the past month I'm trying to get back to all of you and I appologize for taking so long. The tank has been moved to the new house and is starting to get back on track (still battling bryopsis). happy...

    Tank Moved!!!

Three days later and the 240g has made it safely from Shoreline to Lynnwood!! I forgot how heavy that tank is. Thanks to trido for helping to lift the sucker and sticking around to give me a hand with a second van load of stuff. Phil and Dave thanks for giving up your valuable time on such a...

    Moving again...

So why is it that everytime I get a tank to stabalize it seems like I have to move it? That's right the new 240g that I set up ~6months ago has to be moved to a new house. Luckily I still have my 120g to use as a holding tank for the corals until the tank is moved this time. Looks like...

    IceCap Rocks!

So I had a ballast meltdown about a week and a half ago. I contacted Icecap and informed them of the issue. I never sent in a warranty card or had proof of purchase and had even cut and hardwired the ballast. I just sent it off to them and in less then a week, a brand new ballast was sitting...

Anyone been stung by a frogspawn?

1 of my 5 different types of frogspawn/hammers stings me every now and again. My carpet wouldn't let go of my hand once and they itched like mad after i ripped it off....but the best sting came from my aussie elegance...now if you want to go into the relm of fish I just got blasted by a...

    coral dip

I've been playing around with melafix...seems to work well with most pests although it doesn't rid them entirely (at least not at the dose I tried)

    Bumping up Questions ?

how often do you do 60g h20 changes? That's a big water change.

    Melafix..red bugs

I think the corals might need a bit more then 4 minutes as I saw the red bugs still swimmin for about 6-8 minutes after they came off the coral. Maybe if you mix it a bit stronger then 1 capful per quart they'd die faster. Experiment Experiment Experiment :)

    Melafix..red bugs

I had a couple red flatworms on a piece of rock and those suckers melted away fast. I wonder how those AEFW would handle it. On a side note melafix is basically tea tree oil...anyone care to chime in on that...it's good for killing fleas and lice...i wonder how corals would feel about straight...

    Melafix..red bugs

So I just tried this melafix as a quick dip for red bugs to see how it worked. 1 capful to a quart of saltwater. Let them soak for about 4 minutes and man those little buggers were jumping ship. Seems like it takes a bit longer then 4 minutes to kill them but it took the population down for...
