You should be able to ask a friend that has a large dog as its super common for dog owners. The large pills should run you $10 and thats good for 300g if i'm not mistaken. Make sure you research the dosage. Its a very easy treatment. There are no long term affects that anyone knows of...
I dosed with interceptor for 12hrs with my skimmer running with no air injection, it worked and i haven't seen them since. That was pry a year ago. The only thing that was affected was crustaceans, so if you have hermits or shrimp they will die.
Thats strange for sure. I have had to cut the impeller blades down just a tad before and that made them work much quieter. Maybe email the manu and see what they say. As this isnt normal for them. They will destroy themselves pretty quick if they keep trying to run backwards.
I've seen them do alot of things and i've used the eco, triton and algae free mod kits but never had them just chatter like that. Only way i think they would chatter is if you ran them on a wavemaker.
If you are using the high flow mods you must use a mj1200. The lessers dont work with the high flow well. I have never seen a mj mod that didn't end up being trashed. They generally last for about a 6-8mths and the cap's start to go bad and rub, then vibrations, etc....i've trashed 4 at this...
T5's and MH give out the same heat if they are the same wattage. A watt is a watt. They disperse heat differently, mh's are point source and t5's are spread accross the bulb. IMO its easier to cool the mh as its only a small space the heat is coming from. Just aim a fan under the mh lamp and...
The internal is driven by one mj1200, the external hot is driven by one mj900 for air injection and the other small mj is a feed pump. The external is a hob recirc. So they are only driven by one pump for air injection.
They are definately tough to beat : ) When i got my first one from nuocean he sent me some pw's to test. I added a larger pw on the internal one and it was pulling 350lph. It had a 4" foam head. To bad it didn't fit!!!!!!!!!
Why not just get a bubble magnus hot? They are 80-120bux and will destroy the saphire's, bacpak's and most others and cost less. This way you don't have to mess with mesh as they use a aspirating venturi with pinwheel. It does 220-300lph air pull. I use the external bubble magnus on my son't...
I've had plenty of them for yrs and generally leave them be as most are beneficial, unfortunately you run accross some that don't look as the norm like this guy, and even though it may be ok, it looks to close to a predator that i have to get rid of it.
Here's the info on that worm. You can't see the white bristles on the outside of it to well but its got a row of white all along the body.

I have a feeling this is a bad guy. I hate killing these things but if its going to hurt my sps then i'm going to dispose of it, so Yea or Nea? Its 10" long fwiw.
There was a huge thread about them yrs ago, they are worthless. Just get a piece of pvc and put some magnets in it, then cover it with some electric tape and there ya go. You too can create a worthless piece of crap of your own : )
Nope, just the air pull and wattage, no clue on pf. And yes those are completely manufactured pumps made by honya. They are not askoll motors. Its a complete ko of the askoll. The eheim to jebo or sedra to genx, sedra to resun...etc.
Yes and no. It is a nice pump that pulls a ton of air, starts up nicely and is quiet. However you can get the real deal askoll modded for the same price as the ko. And the real one pulls more air.
Sounding great and being great are two very different things. The main thing i see is how well the pump's work. If they are quiet, no restart issues and pull the air they say at the wattage they say, then they will be nice. The pump i saw tested pulled 85scfh around 50w.
The cone is sold to CV from atb so its no rip off mark. CV does the distribution for atb. They are just slapping on cheaper parts. The cylinder skimmers are similar to the hurricone's. I wonder if they will replace them? May as well since these guys are cheaper to make and performance will...
