    New to the SPS

It depends on how healthy your tank is. Some will grow fast (few inches a month) and some will take some time. The larger they get the faster they seem to grow for me. It varies from tank to tank. If they are doing well you will see growth and good polyp extension. If they are not doing...

    Turning white?

I've had this happen a few times to random sps. Its generally because my parameters had to large of a swing. I had my temp rise 4 degrees one time and to large of an alk swing. The only thing that healed them was consitent water parameters and time. I haven't lost one from this but its very...

what do you do for your bread and butter?

PC to T5 mod on Odyysea/Jebo fixture?

yes, i do agree you'll get better colors with t5's especially if you use IR's. But is it worth the headache of setting it up.......pry not to me : ) I would probably just get different mh bulb's that fit my liking. Would pry be cheaper after all the modding and bulbs and what not.

    Any Ideas on T5 Problem?

I've always had the best luck with them pointing down. Although i run my mini cone with the output pointed up and get 35scfh with a pw : ) I would say to run the sicce in 10" water as they do best in 10"

    Any Ideas on T5 Problem?

I have been using them for a few yrs and sometimes when a bulb isn't just right the bulb's all turn on for a second and then turn off. I then have to find the bulb that isn't in quite right. Or a wire may not be connected right. It can be quite a headache. Only other thing it could be is a...

    Extreme skimmer height

Don, look at it like this. You have a 6' skimmer with 1000gph flowthrough pulling 1000lph air. You then have a 3' skimmer pulling 500gph flowthrough pulling 1000lph air. Both esentially have the same dwell time so they should perform the same. Thats why you see all the shorter skimmers these...

    My Nice Zoos

I thought I'd share some pics of my nicer zoo's. I have quite a few different one's but these are my favorite's. Not sure what they are but I don't really get caught up on names these days. The one's look like blue tubbs with purple centers.

PC to T5 mod on Odyysea/Jebo fixture?

Yep, 216w of t5, mh, pc, vho are putting out the same amt of heat. The heat is controlled differently with the mh's than the others, being point source instead of spread out so much. Chicas have you ever hooked up a killawatt to your mh fixture before. If you are running the 250w odyssea mh's...

    Bubble Magus Skimmers?

Yep : ) The bioball works well, or half of it anyhow.

Here's a few pics with the new camera of some random stuff. I'm starting to get better with the camera, it takes a bit.

is there a better skimmer for the $$$ than this for a 300g

This is true and untrue, much difference in the pump mods on the swc vs octo. The swc pw pulls 28-32scfh compared to the octo's 13-17scfh. That to me is pretty significant. The white bodies also have a different output fwiw as they are the third generation. The build quality is the same.

    Octopus NW150 Pump ?

Nothing super cheap. A sedra 5000, aquabee 2001. The cheapest pump that pulls around 450-500lph is the atman from nuocean for around 40bux but i bet they are out of stock.

    Octopus NW150 Pump ?

The neck is to restricting on the 150nw, your comparing round 2.5-3" to 4" on the extreme 160. I would contact the seller, as you shold have a 6mth to 1yr warranty, hopefully a 1yr. Thats a pretty common prob with those janky otp pump's.

is there a better skimmer for the $$$ than this for a 300g

Your paying for the mold of the cone in reality and a much better build quality in the cone. The extreme cylinder line's are all built well but the cone's are 1/4" cast acrylic and expensive to make. One sicce on a cone is nearly comparable to two sicce's on a cylinder. So they are better...

is there a better skimmer for the $$$ than this for a 300g

The cone's transition is much better than any cylinder skimmer. That makes all the difference when running one. They also have less back pressure on the pump with the less water inside the skimmer, that allows more air to be injected. So when comparing the 3 sicce cylinder to the two sicce...
