    The key word is "export" not 'recycle'. If you followed every snail around and cleaned it's poopie immediately, then tehy would serve as an export; otherwise they are only recycling (changing the form of the nitrAte/po4 from green to brown :rolleyes: ).     Hummm... I think algae is more prevelant in newer tanks for several reasons. Since most sand & rock is loaded with nutrients and even the newly made salt water has some levels of ammonia/phosphates; these nutrients, along with the fact that most newer tanks don't have any organisms (corals...

    I have a clamp on lamp over my sump.. works great!! Here is the bulb I use. I bought it at Home Depot. Love it! Works great!

    Jiddy... if you don't remove that caulerpa algae it will overrun your tank!! It will attach runners to your substrate and rock :( If you don't have a sump to keep it confined, try replacing it with chaetomorpha instead... atleast that macro algae can be removed easily.

    Definately when I was returning my long time yellow clown gobie, Mel, to the main display from a hospital treatment tank... I put him in right at a strong water current that swept him directly to my haddoni :( :( same question

    Very nice pic! Beautiful zoas! I too am trying to eradicate brown/pink polyps from a rock that is overcrowding another colorful zoa colony.... it's proving to be difficult! Any tricks to doing it?
