    Male Bangaii holding!

We went to feed them tonight and he wouldn't eat and his jaw swollen! Sorry really excited, we were just getting ready to take them out of QT in 2 more weeks. We only got them 6 weeks ago so this is the first time they've spawned. No clue if he'll swallow the clutch or not. Really excited...

    What is considered "mature"?

I had the best luck with fish roe, they would occasionally pick at it but not enough for long term sustainability.

    What is considered "mature"?

Also I've had problems getting them to stay eating prepped food. When put in a reef tank there are reports of them going back to copepods and ignoring all other prepped food. My own experience with them was not positive I tried every food listed on the ORA site and couldn't get them to eat...

Saltwater City Barrier Reef (Renton exit 7) Blue Sierra (Renton exit 2/3) Denny's Pet World (Kirkland - north of Bellevue) If you want to brave the 520 or 90 you can go to Red C Aquarium in Shoreline. It depends what you want, Denny's and Blue Sierra are larger and freshwater first with...

what are some good monitoring systems?

As someone running a reef keeper I really want an apex. The reef keeper works the way they want it to work, it doesn't work the way I want it to work. That's the largest difference for me.

Time to go small! Is bigger really better?

It's a 5.1 gallon, great little tank I've been drooling over one for a while. It has its own LED lighting strip that's expandable. I just stopped by Red C and picked up some black sand and dry rock for the future tank. The firefish is for sure, we had two in our 90 and one got kicked out when...

Time to go small! Is bigger really better?

Did you have a green clown? I was looking at those guys and they seem really interesting, but I've heard the greens can be more shy.

Time to go small! Is bigger really better?

I think some type of goby is really needed, I'm a bit leery of a pistol shrimp though. Won't the thin glass be a problem if he decides to start banging on it? Yeah I think the sexy shrimp are really cool, we might have to get a couple. Here's what happened when I looked at the Dracula goby...

Time to go small! Is bigger really better?

Thanks! I thought about that but I'm going to go with black sand this time I think and all my existing live rock is covered in vermetid snails and I'd like to start fresh. If anyone knows how to get rid of those snails I'd love to hear it. -Jim

    RO/DI System Opinions?

I just now went with a spectrapure, and I'm so glad I did. They have a refurb unit and a $29 inline TDS meter that I couldn't resist. I'm so glad I did, no more hauling water for me. Any of the RODI units mentioned here will all do the same thing, they're all quality brands that work great...

    5th Anniversary Sale!

Any chance you'll have the Ecoxotic EcoPico Reef in addition to the Ecoxotic EcoPico?

Time to go small! Is bigger really better?

I've gotten permission to pick up an EcoPico at Barrier Reef's upcoming sale!!! But I need some of your guys help with stocking and setup. We've only setup a 90 gallon and I did months of research on what to stock and how to stock it but a pico is a whole different story. I know it only...

Looking for advice for lighting for a 29BC with LEDs.

Cool! Take a lot of pics and share, I'd love to see how it all comes together. Just glancing on ebay those looked like max 850 lumens so they'd be around 85 lumens per watt if my fuzzy brain is right. Though they listed max and not a real spec sheet where you could validate that. I don't...

Looking for advice for lighting for a 29BC with LEDs.

From what I've read it's less about the wattage and more about the lumens per watt in the proper spectrum. Which LED The whole reason most of got into this light scheme was for efficiency. Having said that there have been a lot of question like will this LED work. The thing to look for is...

Looking for advice for lighting for a 29BC with LEDs.

I know rapidled has a biocube kit with heatsink and everything needed to retrofit one. The Cree LEDs give off a ton of light. When I was looking around at forums the Cree lights were very highly recommended.
