Just understand that "good flow" to Krish means 100x turnover with 0 sand in his tank.:biggrin1:

    cleaner crews

They are very cool, Barrier reef has them in occasionally, I ordered 1 from reefcleaners and picked a second one up from BR. I like having stuff that looks different from the normal saltwater tanks I've seen so the conches, cerith snails, sea hare (though I just gave him away once the hair...

Get a couple of these: ReefCleaners.org | Clean Up Crews and Macro Algae - Juvenile Fighting Conch* I love mine. Some emerald crabs, some blue leg hermits. Just make sure you have a good mix to fit every niche, I love the conches for sand cleanup! -Jim

    Hello from Seattle

Holy crap that's a great thread. I'm not that interested in clowns but that's an amazing resource. I'm too new to have been here while you were here before but welcome back!

Sooo how about A SEAMAX meetup plan?

Heck, I walked out of my first meeting with over $200 worth in supplies so I won't forget that :-)

Sooo how about A SEAMAX meetup plan?

Cool, almost neighbors compared to the other PSAS people :-). Cost is $30 a year and it nets you 10% off at a lot of the local fish stores.

You can join at SeaMax! They're selling year memberships there for next year, it's a great time to signup. Btw where are you located? I'm about 6-7 blocks away on Roy.

Come pick my brain...I know there are more beginners out there.

Well thanks man, I'm out of questions.... for now, but I'm sure I'll dream up some more. I was looking at the MP40s but I really don't think I can justify it even if I get one used, I need a new skimmer first, then better lights, then something else I'm sure :)

Sounds good, I have a reefkeeper lite I bought when a blown heater almost nuked my tank when I first got it, so I was thinking of picking up 2 of these: Koralia Evolution the 1050s and setting up a wave maker on the RKL with 30 on 15 off type rotation if I could. Would that be enough flow, or...

Sadly I can't upgrade my drain bulkhead, I think the 1" is really restricting the 18 though so I'll have to play with it a bit and see what happens when I put 1.5" PVC on the return if I get more flow than 1" drain will handle. Right now a 1" durso handles it fine, I have both used as drains...

I updated my link while you replying that was an old placement, would you mind taking a look at the new pic. One is behind the rocks on the left one is upper right.

I don't think the mini-jets put out nearly enough flow. I'm seeing sub 200 gph when I probably need in the 350-400 range.

Glad I could help relieve your boredom, I hear books work well too ;) The bulbs are 9" above the water, I've got a standard 90 reef ready tank. Thanks for those links, lots of good info there. I'm not going to drill my tank for the bean overflow. So where can you pick up gate valves...

I'd like to start them off under the T5s and eventually move to LEDs. My wife has freshwater experience, from what I read when you get a pair the only question is when they'll breed and since they're mouth brooders none of that pesky larva stage, they start taking brine shrimp asap. Cool...

Only stupid people? :) Ok here's my list of noob questions: We've got a 25" deep aquarium, 4 T5s with individual reflectors.... is that enough to keep SPS coral? We're getting a pair of bangaii cardinals, what the heck do we need if they start to breed? Ideas on breeding equipment and setup...

I've liked the looks of the golden dwarf morays. They'd fit in that size tank.
