Thanks Boomer it feels better to know what it was. The delay from the power out and the bleaching is what threw me off. It took around a week and a half for the effects of the temp. swing to show on the corals.
On another note both the sponges and softies seem to be bleaching. Has there been a marked increase in water temp buy any chance. When all else fails large water change :)
No large temp increace except after power out back to norm.72 back to 80 in one day. Yes all softies have lost some coulor...
Bleaching. No idea really. Try some iodine addition sometimes that helps. On another note both the sponges and softies seem to be bleaching. Has there been a marked increase in water temp buy any chance. When all else fails large water change :)
Thanks for the links Boomer. Boomer do you think...
Thanks Boomer. Do you have any Ideas why my softies would start to bleach? My water seems ok to me I am not shure what happened to them yet but I would like to know what I have done wrong. I am converting from soft to sps do you think having both would cause a problem?:?:
I left for 10 days befor and used the auto feeder once a day I also set the skimmer a little dry and had no problems. I hope it goes well for you also. Have a good time.:)
Hi I am local to Vancouver B.C. and I think I have been to most If not all of the lfs in the area. Most of the lfs are gearing up for boxing day sales. I find limited selections of coral in the Lowermainland lfs, but one store has a better selection J&L aquatics and they are getting a big...
The sponge was much bigger around the size of a baseball, I removed the dead parts, the picture there is a small piece left over. I am not shure one way or another why, I am just thinking out loud.
No I was very carefull not to remove it from water plus it has been in the tank 9 months now. It never did very well but just recently it turned white and died. and two diffrent pieces in diffrent places of the tank at the same time.
Yes very close and yes mine is in the light. My question is if it dies in the tank will it poison the tank? I think the light may have had somthing to do with it. I am glad you have had no problems with yours.:)
Ok I think I am understanding the problem I have been having with the tank.
I had a blue sponge which I got at the lfs I did not do my homework first or I would have not bought it. I was told the sponge is reef safe and no problem to keep but some reasearch later I discoverd it was toxic. 3...
I have good water quality I think mag 1360 pm cal 450 kh 9.6 ph low 7.98 ph high 8.18 the swing is a bit smaller normally nitrate 0.1 Phosphates are undetectable . I recently hooked a refugium up to the sump, lights on at night.I have some bleaching on my soft corals?? thought maybe the power...
Wow did I ever mess up. Around 6 months ago I tryed to hook up a chiller to my 110 gal and realized that a electric current was present in the tank. So I, after some head scratching figured out the house had no ground. The house was wired in the 50`s so I decided to upgrade for " SAFETY " not...
I cant believe there is not one post from western Canada. There is several million of us here there must be one club out there. I would love to join somthing local. I am from Vancouver B.C.
Do you have any pictures of those systems or info on how they work, I would like to do my homework on this a while to make shure I get the right thing for my system. You use fresh air from outside? That makes sense to me, did it help?:)
