Starting another tank after having aquarium fire

That's a real bummer, sorry to hear about it. I think that everyone who stays with this hobby long enough experiences an electrical fire or near miss. Other than finding a new brand of powerhead I don't really know what to tell you. I would definitely let that LR cycle and cure for a while; if...

    Ranco Temp Sensor

Yeah, don't crank your heaters all the way up, a few degrees above the Ranco is best. I had my probe in the overflow box, but I can't argue against in the first chamber of the sump either.

What do you think of this tank?

That does have the look of a GC tank, although I'm not sure about the black plastic corner strips; what's the point of clear silicone if you're going to cover it in black plastic. anyhoo... I agree that the stand is probably plenty strong and there is a thread about fancy stands or something on...

    Angry Clownfish

Clowns are Damsel kin after all... As far as something you can do, I don't think so, other than getting a longer tank so that you don't intrude on their territory as much. Clowns will be clowns and sometimes it's not all that funny.

Return pump. in sump pump or external

I agree with Finn. PanWorld pumps are pretty rock solid and you've already got it. Assuming that space is not an issue I don't see any advantage to using a submersible return pump. With a 150 gallon system, only the crappiest of submersible pumps are going to give you significant heat issues. If...

    Sicce psk 2500 needle wheel

If you use the existing Sicce holes, do you have to raise the level of the skimmer body though? On my cone, the holes were about 3/4" to low to line up perfectly with the output of the LA pump; I built a ring out of PVC for the skimmer to sit on to make the adjustment. The LA pump is hands down...

    id my hitchhiker crap please

I'm thinking mythrax also. If you look at the ends of it claws, they should look like little "scoopers" on the inside part; they use it for scraping the rock clean. I've had some that seemed (were) harmless for a long time, then they hit a certain size (in my case, always much bigger than that...

TO LIZARDARM, or other who can answer about AQUA LOGIC Chillers.

Try the fans, that's probably your best bet to start; but watch your evaporation rate, it will probably go up considerably. Is there a reason you're wanting to go with a drop-in chiller as opposed to an inline unit? Just curious on that one. An inline unit can be placed further away from the...

TO LIZARDARM, or other who can answer about AQUA LOGIC Chillers.

According to MarineDepot, the refrigerant hose on the CY-2 is five feet long. It appears that that is the length for all of Aqualogic's drop ins. Here's the link- http://www.marinedepot.com/chillers_aqua_logic_delta-star_cyclone-ap.html

    Mystery ballast

Not that I didn't believe you, but I got nil on Google also. Can you tell if it's a MH or fluorescent ballast? Might try calling IceCap's customer service line.

sump size for a 55 gal

Can you build a bigger stand? Just kidding. Do you use an in sump skimmer? If so, the 20 long may not give you enough height to have the water level high enough while still leaving room for overflow in the event of a power outage.

sump size for a 55 gal

That's one of the many cruxes of a 55, like the tank, the space inside the stand is too narrow for any good use. You might try a 20 tall, or do they call it a 20 high? Either way, it might fit in there. I'm assuming you're using a submersible return pump?

??? VHO lights not working ???

I have had the original problem that you described on my T5s with the same ballast. It turned out to be a bad lamp. There are IceCap wiring diagrams to be found, maybe you could disconnect the whole thing and redo it all. The wiring harness can be a bit of a bear to work with when none of the...
