    calc

Are you sure your meter is calibrated correctly? If it is, and your calcium is that high, you could start doing water changes; maybe 10% a day. I'm thinking that if it is really that high though that you should be seeing bad numbers on an alkalinity test too. If the calcium pushes your alk...

    plumbing issue

I've had salt creep build up on/in the holes that. Coraline also.

    plumbing issue

Pretty much redundant at this point, but... +1 more on checking the air hole.

Any Reason to Run the Chiller in the Winter?

Maybe it's just that Aqualogic rocks! I've got one, best chiller I've owned.

SWC vs Reef Octopus Extreme skimmer

It doesn't matter who mesh mods it, it just seems to burn the pumps up quicker.

SWC vs Reef Octopus Extreme skimmer

Yeah, I sat there with my mouth hanging open for a moment. But I don't speak any Indian dialect, so I can't talk. My two cents- whatever you get, get one with the Askoll pump or the ReefOctopus variant; it is light years ahead of the Sicce pumps in performance. I upgraded my skimmer from two...

Cheapest prices on tanks in Seattle area?

Yep, either here or CL is gonna be your best bet. As mentioned above, drilling for OFs is not difficult. Good luck!

Any Reason to Run the Chiller in the Winter?

Other than the loss of temperature stability probably no direct ill effects. I leave mine up and running because it still kicks on a couple times a week even in the winter. My tank is probably not going to get above eighty right now even without it, but why not just keep it as stable as possible.

    Bristleworms

Do you have a 10" worm in your tank? If so, are you sure it's a bristleworm? There may also be predatory crabs in the tank, i.e. xanthid sp.

    My Coldwater Tank

Jacobnano, how old is your chiller?

    My Coldwater Tank

Catalina gobies are super cool looking!

    My Coldwater Tank

Those are both great looking tanks. As someone who doesn't do any diving around our cold local waters, I'm amazed at how colorful it can be when staged properly as you've done.

    My Coldwater Tank

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out long term. Good luck with it; maybe you'll be starting the new "it" thing for a while. I'd always assumed that it'd be difficult to keep things cool in the summer months.

    My Coldwater Tank

Great looking tank! Does the chiller run continuously to keep it that cool?

    question about lighting

I'd be wary of that particular halide fixture. I have no experience with it, but those reflectors don't look very good. JMO, I'd go with a six lamp T5 setup for your tank; anemone would appreciate the extra light. So far I've found the T5s that I run now to be quite a bit better than the PCs I...

    quiet auto feeder?

Mine's an anti-recommedation of sorts, http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CU-USA08024&Category_Code=Feeders I bought this to replace an old unit that fell in the water; it is pretty much dead quiet, but I've found it to be difficult to adjust the feed...

    180 Flow Design...thoughts?

But, I should also add that I don't have a very high opinion on spraybars. They seem to be more hassle/colg prone than they're worth. It's just one more thing that is fairly deep down, behind rock and corals, at the back (hardest to reach) of the tank that is going to need an occasional...

    180 Flow Design...thoughts?

Kinda depends on the purpose of the spraybar, and how long it's going to be. If your going to be puting holes all over it to get "random" flow, I'd go with something down the lines of a Sequence Dart pump (3600ish gph). If the holes are going to be directed more downward and forward for clearing...

    180 Flow Design...thoughts?

This is only my opinion, but I'd go with more through the spraybar. On a 180, 2000 gph might not be enough. Having the two Vortechs is going to make the biggest visible difference of the three things you're looking at.

    seeking other opinions.

you can also mount them on the sides of the overflow box shooting straight out to the sides along the back. I just get better water-stirrage with them mounted on the outsides going in.
