    Any Ideas on T5 Problem?

That's not the problem; this setup has been working for several months now, then just failed to light one day. Nothing changed, nothing wiggled, just no light.

    Mrs. Wages Pickling lime

It can melt/kill corals if it gets on them, so just be careful. It can, in high enough doses, raise the alk of the water. Just mix it into a paste and squirt it out of a plastic syringe.

    Coraline

Since you've got silicone, your tank must be glass. I used to use a razor blade; you've just got to stop at the silicone. Kent makes a product called a Pro Scraper or something to that effect that I've had good luck with. The handle comes in handy sometimes.

    Equipment Fire

Saltwater causes excessive corrosion of the connectors which causes excess resistance to electrons flowing which causes heat buildup that can cause breakdown of the insulation on the connector/wires.

    Any Ideas on T5 Problem?

Hey all, I've got an Icecap T5 retrofit kit with the Icecap 660 ballast. As of yesterday the lamps wont light up. If I unplug it and plug it back in one lamp (the first one in line from the ballast) will come on for about one second then shut off. Tried swapping the lamps around to see if it...

    Too Much Air in Tank

You're doing fine, and you're welcome. This is the problem with the Megaflow setup. They're not bad overflows, but if you follow their design completely you can't get that Locline totally underwater because it's coming out above the overflow's top lip. What I did in the past was to abandon the...

    Too Much Air in Tank

Don't plug that hole! You assumed right. if anything make it bigger or add a second one. The hole should be under water during normal operations. Teflon tape on the Locline threads also.

    Too Much Air in Tank

Also, are there any filter socks or anything else to calm down the splashing of the water as it enters the sump? Are you sure there are no bubbles in the sump?

    Too Much Air in Tank

Locline is the black flexible pipe stuff (modular) that goes on the return side, coming out of the overflow box.

    Oh yeah, velkomen til RF!

    Too Much Air in Tank

It is completely possible, and not uncommon. I don't know what you are using for plumbing for the return pump, but a poorly cemented PVC connection or a not quite tight enough hose clamp can cause small amounts of air to get sucked into the pipe. Also, the Locline that comes with the Megaflow...

Cool deal man! Love the clowns.

    Goin' crab huntin'

I removed two of them from my aquarium over the weekend. Just held a chunk of halibut with some tongs to lure them out of the rock; had the net already in the water, so it was pretty much easy. Caught them both in less than ten minutes.

    Ballasts

I've heard a lot of good press on the Lumatek ballasts also. And yes, as Adam said, get electronic.

    Ballasts

Yes, different ballasts tend to make different lamps appear slightly different. I for one use and like Icecap ballasts (2x250watt, and 1x 660watt on my setup). This company has been around for a long time. They make no noise at all, run really cool for a ballast(warm, not hot) and are way...
