    PSI Meter

Where would be the best place to splice a psi meter into a RO/DI Unit (feed line, waste water line, etc.)? Does it even really matter? I hooked it up temporarily to the waste water line and was getting 60 psi. Thanks, Jeff

no doubt! When I got my refractometer, it read 1.030 when my hydrometer read 1. 025!!!!

    Need help mixing saltwater

good deal. a refractometer is really the way to go! it's probably one of the best and cheapest investments you can make for your reef tank. Jeff

    Need help mixing saltwater

It's true what you said though Steve. Hydrometers really aren't that accurate. they serve a purpose though. If i didnt have a refractometer, I hydrometer is better than nothing!

    Need help mixing saltwater

It's all about karma Ed! There were a lot of nice people that helped me along the way. I like to try and return the favor to other reefers. What comes around goes around, right? Jeff

    Need help mixing saltwater

Usually it is 1/2 cup per gallon of water. so for 5 gallons, 2 1/2 cups should work to get you in the 1.023-1.024 range. add just a little more to get it up to 1.025. Where in Seattle do you live? I can give you my hydrometer. I don't use it since I got a refractometer. It's much more...

Do you use a support Buddy...

I have a really cool buddy that took care of our tanks while we were on our honeymoon last October. He did a great job making sure the water was topped off, and my zoos actually doubled while he was taking care of the tank! The funny thing about it all, was that he took pictures of everything...

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

We have copper lines underneath, so I suppose that buying a new one once we move can't be all that expensive. Is it the older homes that have pvc? Ours was built in 2003. Jeff

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

When we move, I'm sure we will use the drinking water feature. It makes sense to get it all in one since he is offering it all up in one big auction. Thanks for the help Steve, dwall74, dnjan, gobie, and everyone else who chimed in. You really made everything clear for me!

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

Well. since I am moving in the near future, should I get the faucet adapter as well? I don't like the idea of piercing into the water line. Stiil a plumbing novice. I don't have as much space as everyone else may have. 570 sq. foot of living space! We'll probably try and find room under the...

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

Wow! This is great news! I think it's finally clicking. I'm sorry that I've been so thick about it. As for which unit I should get, there are I believe 4 models he has on ebay right now. One of them is listed as for "aquarium" use. Am I to assume that's the one I want to order? Here are...

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

I'm even more confused now than I was yesterday. I really don't want to go through the hassle of purchasing something that I will have to change out a part. Is that what I would have to do if I bought the cheaper unit off of ebay? I guess the ultimately the original question has to be...

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

I'm not trying to discount the aquasafe model. I am actually leaning towards it right now. Someone from RC said this, It is making more and more sense as we discuss it. I am not a brand junkie by any means, but I'd like to make sure that I purchase this one unit and not have to "upgrade" to...

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

How about the GPD rating? From what I have read, the water gets less contact time in the carbon and DI stages in high-GPD units than low-GPD units. I don't need 100 GPD either.

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

I am torn on the price difference. I would love to save the extra $100, however, I am getting so much conflicting information. I guess I could include the TDS meter in my $200 budget. I used to use tap in the very beginning, but like dnjan, have been told by 99% of the reefing community that...

    Which RO/DI Unit to buy?

I'm tired of lugging buckets of water from the market or LFS. I did ok enough on ebay to afford to spend around $200 on a RO/DI Unit. I don't have very much plumbing experience and we are planning on moving in 6 months to a year, so I don't want to install it permanently. Also, we are...

    Poor Me

don't get me wrong. Diving in Miami was 10 times better than diving off of Alki, but after St. Thomas, the only thing that could have topped it was the Great Barrier or Palancar reef. Well, maybe Bonaire or Palau or...

    Poor Me

Make sure you go to the Keys. Their motto is "Diving Capital of the World"! We made the mistake of diving off of Key Biscayne in Miami and were thoroughly disappointed after diving in St. Thomas 4 days prior.
