    Orange Cloudy Water HELP??

@IPisces, not sure, but I will be investigating and researching; I'll let you know what I figure out. @HereFishyFishy, thanks for the reference on dinoflagellates (fish probably feel like they have been being beaten on by T-Rex with this thing).

    Orange Cloudy Water HELP??

Reactor is the issue. I turned it off this morning before work and came home to "clear" water. Now clean up, water changes, and more research on whether I get rid of the sand. Thanks everyone for all the advice/thoughts.

    Orange Cloudy Water HELP??

First time it happened I kept the lights off for a couple days and it seemed to make it worse. It seems like whatever it is, is laying dormant for a while, then something triggers it. The carbon will pick up orange detrius and the water in the bottom of the reactor will be thick and orange...

    Orange Cloudy Water HELP??

Yes, I have sand. No, it is not disturbed. No other media change, no change to lights, no change other than carbon and dumped/cleaned the skimmer cup.

    Orange Cloudy Water HELP??

I've had the rock and sand for a few years. The tank has been up and running for over a year.

    Orange Cloudy Water HELP??

ARRRGH! :frusty: This is the third time this has happened, and I cannot figure out what is causing it. Replaced carbon Saturday, within an hour the tank turned cloudy and orangeish colored. It got progressively worse over the day. Did a 65 gallon water change, and still no relief. So, yes...

    Royal Gramma "whiskers"

I do have bristle worms. I'll bet that's what it is. I'll keep an eye on it and if anything changes I will post a picture and provide more details. Thanks, Lee.

    Royal Gramma "whiskers"

I've just noticed what look like little white whiskers on the side of my royal gramma's face. They are only on one side and on the chin. About 1/8 of an inch long, white, they look stiff and straight. The fish is not acting weird; not trying to scrape them off; eating okay. I'll try to get a...

    Zoo eating Asterina?

I had them wiping out healthy zoanthids. A pair of Harlequin Shrimp and manually picking away at them got rid of the Asterina. I dive, too, so one smallish starfish from Puget Sound provides months of food for the Harlequin Shrimp. Froze it an cut off small chunks for them now that the...

    Xenia dying off

Interesting thought about the flow. It is in a high flow area now. I think I'll try to move it and see what happens. I'll also keep a look out for nickles!

    Xenia dying off

Hey, that would be great. When would be a good time? I'm free Mon. Tues. and Fri. evening this week. Thanks!

    Xenia dying off

No cleaning anywhere near the tank. No painting either. I don't have a test kit for Mg, so not sure what the level is.

    Xenia dying off

I have a 40 gal established tank (about 1 y.o.). Over the last few months my pulsing xenia (which had been threatening to take over the tank) has started dying off. Nothing new has been added to the tank. Water parameters are decent (calc. 400, alk 8, ph 8.4, NO2, NO3, Ammonia all 0). Any...
