What salt mix are SPS-ers here using?

IO for the last 6 years...never had any issues with it, but I have to say this thread has me considering Tropic Marin / Tunze now. Decisions decisions...

Has anyone ran into this fish site?

I've heard good things about bluezoo - as for sharks...I say leave them in their natural environment. Even the ones in commercial aquariums look couped up to me. JMO

    help with algae

Sounds like a cyno outbreak to me - if it's offgassing O2 - bubbles coming off the surface of the red mat, it almost certainly is cyno. Follow Iroll253's advice and you should get a leg up on it. Also, consider going dark for a couple days as cyno is very dependent on light.

    So.......I'm new here....

While we're talking pygmy angels...I'd recommend looking at a Coral Beauty. An easier angel to keep and adds a stunning flash of color to a tank. I've had one successfully for over 4 years. Ditto w/ addocdreefer as they really do get territorial.

Will pep shrimp attack healthy corals?

Definitely oomnivores...if hungry enough, they'll eat just about anything!

    queen and french?

You may have a chance w/ a large tank in keeping both of these peacefully. I would have a very well thought out stocking plan however.

    My first SW tank oppinions

Congrats on a great start - looks good...except for the 300watt htr...a bit of overkill - especially in Phoenix! Are you planning on incorporating a refugium?

    So.......I'm new here....

I'd recommend starting a BTA up high w/ your setup - mine has settled in approx 1 ft directly under (2) 400 watt MH's for the last 5 years...hasn't moved an inch. Not to imply you need anything close to that wattage for a BTA - just letting you know they're light hogs. haha Dave

    So.......I'm new here....

Welcome to Reef Frontiers - this is a great site to get ideas for your 45T and you're doing the right thing by researching first before you begin stocking. Recommend you look through the FOWLR threads here or on the Reef Central forums to continue getting ideas. As for your questions: A...

    anemone vanished

Has your skimmate production notably increased? If not - it's definitely still in there somewhere...they can really shrink up.

    Some SPS macro pics

Beautiful Garf Bonsai! That's on my short list for the next frag I want to acquire - great pics!

    RO/DI

If you were running 35TDS after all new filters then I would definitely consider replacing the membrane. With no way to really know how much water went through it before you bought it - it's the only way to be sure. Also, I think 35 TDS is quite high for putting water in a reef tank. As a...

    RO/DI

Not sure what kind of setup you're running. If you're running a prefilter, I'd be inclined to change that out first and see if your TDS begin to drop - I'd also consider changing out your DI resin filters first if you're using them. 200 gal is not a lot of production to get out of a membrane...

Looking good - you've got a quick grower with that blue Levelli.

    brown tips on acropora

I've found that tip die off or color change is usually due to a change in lighting - in this case the clearer water. I heard of the same thing happening with folks hooking up a PO3 Reactor for the first time too.
