    Could it be rust?

I don't personally know enough to link the rust to your problems (not sure what all ions hurt our tanks). However, when you run water that hot through your RO/DI you will encounter some problems. Heating water reduces the surface tension which will make it pass through your RO/DI unit much...

Help tank leaking from the side.

By plastic ring do you mean the bulkhead? Like where the plumbing runs through?

Help tank leaking from the side.

I don't know how to fix it but if it is leaking I would suggest getting everything out and it drained ASAP before it blows the entire seam.

    Nate's 40 breeder build

Looks like a great start. You can't beat a 40 breeder when it comes to small tanks. Good square footage with those tanks.

    FLOW RATE

In my 125gallon I use two Koralia Magnum 6 Powerheads (2200 gph each) and then I have around 500gph coming out of my return lines. One problem I had at the start is that with using pumps this large it was hard to get them placed right to not have a huge sand storm. I ended up having one on...

    Percs

Probably making a nest. My pair used to dig out a nest in the sand and clean it out daily until they started hosting my RBTA full time.

Question about dosing Cal/Mag in from an ATO reservoir.

Ahhh, ok see now I understand. So there is something in our salt mixes that keeps it from precipitating out in the display but not in the ro/di water. I understand how the Kalkwasser works (well enough for use I mean). I had just purchased the turbo calc way back when i didn't know what I...

Question about dosing Cal/Mag in from an ATO reservoir.

Thanks Don, I will probably use up my Turbo Calc first then switch to kalkwasser to make the alk easier. Still curious to know why Mag needs to be separate though if anyone knows the answer.

Question about dosing Cal/Mag in from an ATO reservoir.

On my tank I use a 5 gallon jug for ATO purposes. I am wondering if it is possible to dose Cal and Mag(Kent Turbo Calcium/Kent Tech-m) from the same ATO reservoir, then do alk separate using baking soda as needed. I have been trying to research to understand whether or not this is possible...

    Slate's 125gal build

Lol, I tried to get her to look at it last night but she refused. I figure first time I empty it I will do it with her in the house and the camera in my pocket ready to snap a picture. muwahaha

    Slate's 125gal build

Well I have tried and tried to take pictures of the corals and am failing miserably. So I took another fish picture! Pot belly tang FTW!!

    Sexy shrimp

Really depends on the tank you are planning to put them in. I have seen some folks with them in their little pico tanks and they are a pretty cool addition. However, they make a good snack for a lot of fish. So I guess what I am saying is, what are the rest of the details of the tank?

Still sounds like it is gasping for air.

    Bulk head trubble

Oh wow, I think everyone is right that is probably too much flow for those stand pipes. In my tank i wanted low flow going through my sump to help skim so I only run one ehiem 1260. I also made my own stand pipes so my issue was the opposite of yours. I had too little flow going through them...

    Bulk head trubble

What type of standpipes are you using in your overflows? Could be that the stand pipes need slightly larger air holes to breath if they are the Durso style. Basically the water levels gets to a certain point in forms a full siphon sucking the water quickly till the water level gets low enough...
