    Zoa VS Paly

Great point, sometimes not easy to keep. You can read about some of the troubles one may have, hopefully not, with zoas, unfortunately it is my thread! I think zoas tend to like high nutrient water, which is the exact opposite of what most people strive to acheive. Possibly our...

    Zoa VS Paly

Hey Ellylove, don't let anyone bug you on here, most everyone here will try to help you. I collect zoas, and even after reading the articles, It is still confusing on the main differences between zoas and palys, becasue the main differences really don't exist! Keep asking questions, looking...

    zoa problems - solved????

OK, thanks! I am going to try and hit up Michael for some first thing in the morning, so I can get going on the dosing. Then I will pick up another FWE from you to replace his, or to keep for myself as a spare! Do you want me to bring in the little nudi, if it is still alive?

    Coral Placement Based on Temperment

Very good advice on keeping things you don't want to spread marooned on their own rock, such as zoanthids, green star polyps, and aggresive encrusting corals such as hydnophora.

    Zoa VS Paly

Care is pretty much the same. I don't think they will chemically attack each other , but they can out-compete one another for space. It is not uncommon to hear of one type of zoanthid overtaking and wiping another type out.

    zoa problems - solved????

Yikes, I had not run the numbers on the dosage yet, thank you! I am thinking about dosing the tank for about 4-6 hours, then doing a 25+ gallon water change, basically a full tank water change. That should just about kill everything! :D

    Coral Placement Based on Temperment

Most people do not recommend zoas in an SPS tank, zoas are extremely passive aggressive, and will not only wage a chemical war with other corals that you will not visibly see, but they will grow up to and onto SPS corals and kill them by growing over them. Ricordias might do the same to SPS...

    Zoa VS Paly

They are both pretty similar, here are a few articles I found about the differences. I think everyone used to say that the difference was that one was connected by a rubbery mat, while the other was not. However, these articles seem to disagree, one article says that both are connected by a...

    zoa problems - solved????

Thanks for looking! Some of the affected colonies have been dipped in lugols, tropic marin, furan, melafix, fresh water, hydrogen peroxide scrub, and even that purple granular stuff which I forget the name of. Anything on those colonies should have died, unless I am dealing with a viral...

    zoa problems - solved????

So......the infection/predation continues..........another colony affected about 4 days ago, so I removed all of my hermit crabs and emerald crabs to eliminate them as culprits, and yesterday the colony looked much better, and I thought, is it really better, or is my mind playing tricks on me...

You should try fitting him with a waterprrof electirc shock collar, then just buzz him everytime he gets close to the corals! :D

Can they just be pulled/scraped from the rockwork? They look like they should pull off of the rockwork in one piece? Just wishful thinking??? :D
