    cross's 10gl nano build

I would just swap out the wall outlet, it is pretty easy to do. :D Just make sure you cut power to the outlet, and then depending on how you wire any additional outlets beyond the GFCI outlet, they can all be GFCI controlled or independent of the GFCI.

    October Meeting - 10/10 @ 7PM

I would love to host a meeting one of these days, but I am never around on Saturdays it seems like, and this weekend is no exception. I haven't even been able to make it to a regular meeting....oh, and I do need to join one of these days as well!

    My 20 Gallon Long......

What about drilling it and building a sump out of a 10, 15, or 20? I would love to help you crack a perfeclty good tank. If you don't drill it I think I would opt for a HOB refugium, hope she doesn't kick you out when you tell her. :D

    My 20 Gallon Long......

You will be happy with a bigger tank! It seems like you always want to go bigger, and most of the time you are happy with it, but there is always that upgrade that you will eventually do, and after about 3 months you will think to yourself, boy, my smaller tank sure was alot easier to take care...

    cross's 10gl nano build

That is sweet, nice job. Do you plan on keeping it mounted on the side of the fuge? If so, just remember to keep the side of the fuge free from algae, otherwise light will not be able to get in. :) I thought about mounting a light on the side of my tank, but decided to top mount it so I did...

Sounds good, I will let you know when they are ready.

    cross's 10gl nano build

Nope, I won't forget. Tank is done being treated, only one colony is closed up, not actually sure if it is from any infection or if I overreacted to them being closed up, based on what was happening in my DT, and I killed them from the dips I put them through. :D I am going to wait a bit and...

hang on wet/dry for my new 55 gal

I would think about 3 inches of sand would do the trick. That should still give plenty of room for the macro algae to grow above it. Puting in another piece might be the way to go, and could always be removed or adjusted down the road if needed. Here's what returnofsid had to say in another...

hang on wet/dry for my new 55 gal

It looks like the water exits the bio ball (BB) chamber out the bottom. If you put sand in there I am not sure you could get a deep enough sand bed to do you any good, plus it might end up blocking the water's exit route. Could you maybe mod the last baffle, cut it up fromthe bottom so you had...

need help finding a light fixture

Oh man, DSB's, there has been lots of discussion on the pros and cons of a DSB. Here is one post for example. http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43235&highlight=DSB I think I would run a DSB in the fuge, 3 inches or so, with just an inch or so of sand in the display tank...

hang on wet/dry for my new 55 gal

Try sand in the first chamber, with maybe a chunk of live rock so the incoming water does not churn the sand. I don't think you can put any sand where the bio balls were because it looks like the water leaves that area out the bottom. I think I would leave that lower plate where the bio balls...

need help finding a light fixture

I would place the MP10 in one end with the modded MJ on the other end pointing towards the center/each other. That way you should get some pretty random flow in the middle of the tank. Make sure that one or both pumps churn the surface of the water. Then you could use the nanos to hit any...

hang on wet/dry for my new 55 gal

By sponge do you mean a mechanical sponge filter, or living sponges? Unless you plan on cleaning the mechanical sponge quite often I wouldn't put one in. As for charcoal, most people just run a small bag of activated carbon about once a month for a few days. Carbon usually only works at...

need help finding a light fixture

Unless you already have the Koralia Nanos, I would skip them, they do not put out much flow at all, just my 2 cents. :)

need help finding a light fixture

Maybe do the MP10 with a MJ1200 with a sure flow mod, I think you could even use it on the 900 as well, but if it was not enough you could always upgrade to a mj1200. Sure flow is somewhere around 1600 to 2000 gph dispersed flow. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=18525

hang on wet/dry for my new 55 gal

Maybe sand and live rock in the first/second chamber, then get rid of the bio balls, will be hard to clean and will become a nitrate factory, and add Chaeto where the bio balls used to be, just raise the water level in the filter to about the level of the first chamber. The chaeto might help...

question about algea and a ton of bubbles!!!

Possibly try slowing down the water through the refugium, and keep the refugium output about halfway above the water line. This way with the slower flow, it will trap fewer bubbles, and the bubbles it does trap might have a chance to just dissipate immediatley out of the end of the pipe into...
