    CO2?

Ahh yeah - I forgot they generally do swap outs (i.e. buy a full tank from them and then when its empty take it in for exchange) According to the Internet this place might also sell CO2 - I've never checked them out tho - A-L Medical & Specialty Products 4227 E Trent Ave Spokane, WA 99202...

    First aquarium.

Big R is a animal feed/farm store - theres one in the valley and one up on the Northside - Oddly I've found it is a great place to find plumbing fittings, ball valves, and carbon and sediment filters - More selection and much better organized that Lowes & Home Depot It was also known as...

    zoo and clown fish question

FWIW my clowns hosted in my large colony of RPEs/Moster Lip zoanthids for years - but it could be a lucky break - and the zoanthids from that colony were monsters (dime size at least), not the little pin pricks we see around in most cases. Every night they would curl up in the mat with just...

    CO2?

Go to Norco on Trent - right down by White Block They sell tanks & refill - although they did give me a funny look when I told them my tank was for my fish tank :)

Who here has a clean up crew?

Agreed!! And you will find if you do overstock is that all your critters are starving at the same rate, so one day you will look into your tank and ask "where did all my XXX go?" Likely they all progressively starved to death at the same rate, and when others died the survivors weren't strong...

    First aquarium.

One more thing that no one else has mentioned is you will want to either a) find a source for good RO/DI water (i.e. go down to Kevins and buy water from him weekly for your top off) or b) buy an RO/DI system and install so you can make clean water for your water changes. Out of the tap our...

tank installation - best way to set and level on wood floors

I would go as far as building a tile base to put under the stand extending out about a 6-12" on all sides of the tank to give yourself a place for water to collect when you spill it.... I've found that no matter how fast you clean up any spills, the repetitive little bit spilled here and there...

    Filter Socks

I've always washed mine separately w/out soap - I'm not 100% convinced all phosphates and soap leftovers would be rinsed out in a normal wash even with a double rinse. Turning 'em inside out is also helpful - but wash them when they are dirty, if you wait too long they just become nutrient...

Red sea prizm skimmer - loud?

So I threw one of these crappy skimmers on my 10 gal QT system to cycle some sand - and man, its loud. I put a regulator on the air intake but it still makes a ton of noise, puts my remora to shame. Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas of quieting it down or is it just because the pump is...

Need ID on these white spots

I have had nerite snails - don't remember if I had them at the time the spots were appearing, but I don't think I've every had more than 10 of them at a time - and these spots were EVERYWHERE in my 90. Those would have had to have been some very busy snails :)

    Different wrasses in one tank

Ya know I'd be concerned about the size of the fish - that timid lil scotts you have in QT might have a hard time fighting with one of those 4-5" monsters you've already got :) At least that was my rule when I kept cichlids - no fishes significantly smaller than the big baddie - If they are...

Need ID on these white spots

Here's a pic of what I had - I was dosing Kent Marine Calcium at the time - without a test kit, so I was probably overdosing :) And my Coraline was outta this world all over my back glass... now there's barely any coraline, and no spots left

Need ID on these white spots

I'd bet they are calcium deposits... I had some in my system for a while as well until my SPS started taking off. Have they moved any?

December meeting planned for the 20th

PS - I'll also be bringing in some small assorted freebie frags that I've found in my sandbed for "share the wealth" distribution! More incentive to come to the meeting!! :) - Joanne

    Alk drop

I'd bet that the misconception comes from the proliferation of the Blu Coral Method - which aims at the CA to be 500+ But as I read more about the method I can see how the addition of steriods are required since the elevated CA levels would increase growth, but also stress corals - Given Mojo's...

Reef keeper rk1 where to get fuses?

Whats the fuse size - are there any numbers or anything on the existing one? There are enough electrical manufacturers here in town I'm sure someone has some - Heck, I might even have some here at my work for all I know :) Too bad there isn't more info on the internet on the RK1

How deep do you think X-mas tree worms burrow?

So I picked up an X-mas tree rock the other day... but the rock is pretty large, and too large for my 40 given everything else I have - Thinking about fragging off some of the excess rock to make it fit, but I've gotta avoid the worm tubes. Anyone else tried this? Got any idea of their burrow...

Marine waste harmful to septic systems?

I drain mine straight into my yard - not sure if its good or bad, never really asked - but the grass is still green!

    Appetite for Cyclopeeze

doh, that reminds me I need to start feeding my cyclopeeze again in my 40! Stopped in the 90 due to the cyano issues, and never really restarted :D I use the freeze dried stuff... - just soak it for an hour or so in tank water and dump in... or keep some in a small dispenser in the fridge like...
