    pH help please

Mike, I found a post in August of last year where you stated "I run my dkh at 13 and up and try to keep my cal always over 460". These are considerably higher values than what you listed as needed for Ionically balanced water chemistry. From what I have seen lots of other people run theirs...

    pH help please

Mojo, Is there a table or calculator available somewhere that lists what your alk, calc and sg should be in relation to each other given one known value? I found this calculator "http://www.kademani.com/reefchem.htm" but it doesn't list specific gravity. Or is the sg not that big of a factor...

YOUR Mama ......feel free to add but just remember this is positive feedback...

The criteria for posting in the Water fountain forum is stated as “Gather around the water fountain and discuss anything you like other than reef or aquarium topics”. My guess is that the dilemma of having to post something not related to reefs caused an involuntary “your mama”...

    Coralline algae growth question

Actually, as we learned in the "Anthony Calfo " meeting, leaving the lights on when the water level is low is what bleaches the coralline algae as opposed to it drying out. I verified this the last time I had a low water level for a couple of hours. The coralline was fine when I filled back up...

    Hair Algae Questions

How old are your lights? Old bulbs can definitely contribute to hair algae.

    Let the war begin!

Earlier post: "On the outside of the bulkhead, attach a T, with one end pointing up and the other down. The end pointing up will vent the drain line, and prevent gurgling." I have this set up on my tank and there is still a lot of gurgling. I even put miniature ball valves on the top of the...

Discussion of the week lets talk about Electrical Equipment!

“How many power strips can you string together without causing a fire hazard?” That depends on what device you have plugged in to them. If nothing is plugged in (meaning now current draw) then you can plug in an infinite amount without a fire hazard. The problem is that the resistance...

    Drilling holes in Acrylic tank

I was planning on drilling a couple of 2 3/8" holes for 1 1/2 bulk heads (as overflow) in the back of my 140G reef tank and was wondering if anyone has done it with only draining the water down to just below the level of the hole to be drilled (Currently using a CPR overflow box). Wouldn't be...
