    Group buy on Polycast Tube

I want to see if anyone wants to jump on an order of 1/4 wall cast acrylic clear tube. Manufactured by Spartech Polycast. 12" OD $100 / foot 8" OD $40 / foot 6" OD $25 / foot I could use a couple feet of 8" and a foot of 12" but I have to order in 6' sections. If anyone wants to jump in...

    CNC for acrylic projects

Thanks Don. I'll check into that. I get pretty good prices from DSC tool here in Poulsbo and Eden Saw has better prices, but the bits I use most I wouldn't mind buying 6 or so at a time at 1/3 the price !!!! ....and I won't even get into what saw blades cost.... especially the 12" one... $200...

    CNC for acrylic projects

You can work on 1" with a dremel, just have to be careful and slow or you will snap the bit. Yes, upcut bits work the best when your not penetrating all the way through the material (pulls cuttings away from work area). I primarily use Amana bits. Made in Israel and expensive, but they last a...

    HOB overflow box

Weld-on is the most popular but there is also Plex-weld and MC Bond. You most likely will not find them in any local home stores. If you do not have a plastic distributor in your area go to www.tapplastics.com they are a pretty good supplier and sell on-line.

    dwarf angel reef safe?

Japanese Swallowtail, Lyretails ( several different strip patters and names), Lamarck and Watanabe are the only angels I would call "Reef Safe". All the dwarf angels in the centropyge family have hit and miss records to them. I have a female Japanese swallowtail, and 2 female Lamarck angels...

    Sump in Garage questions

How do you figure that there will be no extra "head" with an additional 3' of vertical rise? not to mention the additional run length. Closed loop pumps gain the benefit of gravity but I don't see how an additional 3' lift (on top of an allready existing 2 - 4') would not add additional...

Who in the Seattle area installs Built-in overflows??

I don't know if Big-T has set up shop again or not.... but you could try him. I would also do it for you. Tank calc is: L X W X H in inches / 231 that's length times width times height divided by 231 in inches. 48 x 24 x 24 = 27,648/231= 119.69 or aprox 120 gal Just pm me with what...

    Sump in Garage questions

Matt, the PCX 30 isn't a pressure pump. The 40 is but if you are adding another 3' of head then I would look into a PCX 55. They are very good pressure pumps with a slight increase in flow. The Ampmaster 3000 is a very good pump but will drop a bit with an extra 3' of head. You can contact...

    Draining and refilling my tank

I use vinyl hose now (available at home depot among many other places ) but I have used garden hose in the past with no ill effects. I wouldn't use hot water out of the tap to rinse it with because the copper concentration tends to be higher on the hot side. Just flush it with cold water first...

    Blue vs. Scarlett Hermits?

I prefer the scarlet. They are much less likely to attack a snail for their shell. They are also very picky about their shells and seem to prefer cerith type shells more. Blue and red legs are not very picky about shells and will attack all most any snail. They too seem to like cerrith...

    RIP Nemo

There really is no ok level of nitrite, if it is present then you most likely have ammonia as well. This can also be extremely low oxygen levels. How much flow and surface aggitation do you have in the tank. The bubbling of the nano skimmer may not be enough.

    Cheap Needle Wheel Pumps

Yup, those are the pumps. I don't know why PCI has to use different model numbers (they do on the Octopus skimmers as well) but those are the same pumps. You could mod your Rio pump and yes an airline tube stuck through a coupler will work for the venturi but in the end you'll still have a...

    Drilling tempered glass

sort of...... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for all the reasons Sid said. If you don't have room to drill the back of the tank and put it against a wall you can all ways drill the side and build a book case or something to hide the plumbing on one or both sides.

    Cheap Needle Wheel Pumps

They are wave runner pumps. Pacific Coast Imports has them under the Sea Line brand name. I could drop ship one to you if you can't find one local or on-line.
