Why is my Star's legs getting stumpier and stumpier?

I have a sand sifting star who appears to be ok in general except each of his legs has gradualy become more and more stubby (or stumpy). What is causing this? Photo is a healthy sand sifting star; I'll try to get a photo of my star. Thanks in advance!

Bristle Worms in DT vs. Sump

I have a 240 and have no concerns with bristle worms. In other words, I want them, not wishing to remove them .... with one possible exception: Shoudl I eradicate them from my fuge in order to maximize copepod life and remove competition for food? Curious for any feedback, thanks!

    Kalkwasser Reactor instructions ... questions

I have a KW2000, the type with a recirculating pump ... photo attached. I have a question about the amount of KW powder to place in the reactor. It seems the Kent Kalkwasser instructions assume a manual reactor, and thus a very tiny dose. What amout of KW powder to others use and how often...

    RO Water-to-Product Ratio

For those with an RO or RO/DI, I am curious what your waterwater to product water ratio, here in the Pacific Northwest. My ratio on my RO/DI is close to 1:1, but typical is 4:1. I called a person at Spectrapure for an explanationtion and he felt 1:1 is great if you can pull it off. The...

    Dedicated circuit

Yes, you want the redundancy as well ... but you already know that I think. If a GFCI on one circuit pops while away ... extremely rare I know .. you get some redundancy. I have two 15A circuits plus one 20A circuit serving my 240 system. You want to have the flexibility to buy that 1/2 HP...

    Calcium Reactor Question(s)

Thanks for this feedback mojoreef and trido, your answers have stirred a few further (round 2) questions.... How much alkalinity is generated in addition to calcium? I ask because I currently have a light calcium load, but will be adding coral in the weeks/days ahead. Thus I like the...

    Calcium Reactor Question(s)

I purchased a used Pacific Imports dual cartridge calcium reactor and plan to get it going on my 240g DT. See photos. Questions: 1. Does the circulation pump need to operate full time? 2. Could I omit the 2nd cylinder until such time I need to scale up and use it's added capacity? 3. What...

Anyone use NSW from the Puget Sound?

I have used water from Seattle Aquarium .... but non conclusive. The Seattle Aquarium does not use it's own filter puget sound salt water on the reef aquariums, but does of course for the other exhibits. You can sign up for an account, and get an access card to operate the water supply onthe...

    Dedicated circuit

If you find the condo homeowner's rules allow you to make such an improvement yourself, then get a permit thru your city as most cities allow the 'homeowner' to do basic electrical work themselves (as opposed to hiring an electrician). I point this out simply to clarify some of the comments...

RBTA won't come out to tan... HELP.

I once had an RTBA which seems to expel algae giving the bleached look, especially at the base. After some research, I learned that extra nutrician is important until the anenomie recovers, which I did with a successful end result. I feed every 1-2 days during this period and got a handle on...

Battle of LED's-DIY vs Mass produced

This is a very helpful (and compelling) post for DIY LED. Where does one start with DIY instructions? How did you DIY'ers learn about the design, right materials, and assembly? Forgive if I am overlooking another page here at RF that might exist on subject. Thanks in advance.

Anyone have a Reeflo Dart I can listen to?

You are welcome to give a listen to my Dart in N.Seattle if you desire a comparison. I bought it new about a year ago to power a closed loop on my 240g. It resides in a room behind the display tank
