Where do most folks get their water?

It really depends on the tank, parameters and equipment. 50% water change would cost me a fortune! I do something like 15-20G every 2-3 weeks on a 110g, but I Dont really do it on a regular schedule. I like to watch the tank and and whats living inside will let me know when its time. Dennis

RO/DI high TDS after start up?

Hey guys I'm kinda confused. I first noticed a problem about a month ago when algae started to grow in the tank so I checked my RO/DI and sure enough I had about 45 TDS coming out of it. So I changed the 2 carbon, 1 sediment and 2 DI and that brought it down to 0 TDS. Problem solved but I...

My main one is running reef crest (Yellow) and the other one is on Anti-sync (Orange) on the opposite side of my 110g tank.

120 or 125 what is better for a reef tank?

Both will work just fine as a reef tank, but some thoughts to consider. The 125g is 6' long so this is a much more appropriate home for tangs and active swimmers. But the 120g gives you a lot of depth and really opens up your options as far as aqua scaping and coral placement. Both are great...

    Cloudy Water

Okay that makes sense. When I turned my return pump back on it pumped a little bit of what I can only assume is detritus into the display tank. (little white bits) I imagine there is some stuck in the pump or something. I ordered some filter socks that will hopefully catch all that and then I...

    Overflow location

Pretty much building off of what Burke said my overflow is in the middle and it takes up way too much room for my taste. If I had built the tank I would have put mine in one of the corners (or atleast wish I had). Dennis

    GHA bloom A-N-N cycle ???

If you do choose to harvest the GHA then I would suggest using a siphon to do it. you can just go to lowe's and grab some tubing start the siphon and suck the GHA into it and use your thumb to pin it against the siphon to pull it off the rock and then just let the siphon take it away. This...

    GHA bloom A-N-N cycle ???

Hey NTTH, I am fairly new as well, and probably about a month ago beat my GHA back. You said you had a sump, but do you have a refugium? If not try to set one up and add some Chaeto macro algae to compete with your GHA for the nutrients in the water. I would get a nice high watt bulb and run it...

I'd like to talk about the Algae cycle.

I agree I would love to hear more about this subject. I'm in the middle of dealing with micro algae currently. Once my tank cycled I had brown diatoms show up and about a week and a half later green hair algae. I can also see a little bit of purple coraline showing up. My thoughts on its link to...

Awesome Thanks! Thanks I really appreciate it. I took a few pieces out today and opened it up a little. Ran out of time to take pictures, but I will tomorrow morning. I need to remember that it will fill in a lot better once I have corals growing all over the place. Dennis
