    pairing clowns?

Ah I see. I wish mine would host the athenia I have going wild! When I get my 75 gal going I might give them a pot maybe. Id have the room then. Its a bit soon for an Anemone. My tank isnt that old and Im really struggling with hair algae. I've got to get my rear in gear and figure out what to...

    pairing clowns?

I think I read somewhere, that giving them a clay pot is good, they sometimes use it. True? If you get them an anemone later do they get more agressive? To each other and tank mates or just to us messing in the tank? I've heard they host all types of things.. has anyone had them host...

    dipping sps

Under the API website it lists the ingredients.. seems like the saltwater version has another ingrediant listed, its inactive and probably salt water or ?? The Melaleuca is the same as tea tree oil, I believe. you can buy the oil in the grocery store and mix it. Ive done it for fresh water...

    Sump size for 75 gal

Ah great, I can figure it out now, Thanks! I had to guess since I dont have it plumbed or a sump yet... but it says this... Total losses are 3.53 feet of head pressure, or 1.53 PSI. with a flow rate of 336 GPH

    Sump size for 75 gal

That was the next thing I was wondering. How to tell how much its really pumping once it gets up to the tank. Its either the 5 or the 7 Pondmaster Pond-Mag 5 Pump, 500 gph Head Height (in feet) Gallons per Hour 0' 570 1' 480 3' 425 5' 325 7' 205 10.5' shutoff Its listed as those...

    Sump size for 75 gal

Thats okay.. :) no worries.. just jumping back in to ask more questions! I had planned to use a mag pump I have, its 500gph I think.. might be bigger, for the return to start with. So that sounds like it would work. Im not oposed to powerheads in the tank really, just seeing what is needed...

    pairing clowns?

Macaframa14 hopefully you wont mind my asking some questions along the same line. I have two clowns I got from Barbie (forget the exact kind) they seem to have paired up. If you get them an anemone later do they get more agressive? To each other and tank mates or just to us messing in the...

    cleaner shrimp

The tank is about 7 months old, and the cleaner is young, and small. Sounds like its normal. Yes, when you see it, its scary! The day I got it, I had also bought some snails and one that was the size of maybe a ping pong ball didnt look so good. It died in the tank and I pulled it out the...

    cleaner shrimp

How often do they usually molt? I have one that has molted twice now in about a month. Scary the first time! I was sure he was a gonner when he molted the day after I got it!

    Sump size for 75 gal

flow / return I think my thread has gotten a bit derailed!! For the return / flow... what is considered normal for a 75 gal. Meaning if I use a 20 gallon tank for the sump for example and a return pump of 500 to 600 gph is that enough flow to keep the tank going well? Or do I also need...

    Sump size for 75 gal

return ideas me too.. I have seen one line out, some split and even one system where they came up with the return, plumbed pcv around the upper rim of the tank with outlets every so often to have good flow. Not sure how that would work unless you had a big return pump. Too even with the...

Is there any way to encourage a symbiotic relationship between my shrimp and Goby?

Blind? Im not sure the shrimp are blind, or at least not all of them. There was a recent article I read in a aquarium magazine I get that said most are not blind. They are relatively poor-sighted but that some crustacean experts suggest that the shrimp actually see fairly well. It does go on...

    Sump size for 75 gal

I dont mind. No worries! Jeather, what are you planning on using for your sump? I dont have one yet, toying with the the idea of making one out of an old fish tank, or tupperware container for now. Does it help with evaporation at all to cover the sump? or part of it? Oh also, in reading...

    Sump size for 75 gal

Yes, on the larger bulkhead the inside threads do fit a common size. 1" I think. I was hoping to use the larger outer thread thinking it would be better.. no restrict the drain flow?? Maybe its not that big of a deal.

    Lighting schedule

Sounds like a good plan. :) I think I have them on too long, dont really think about it. I turn them on at 6 when I get up and unless I think about it, they are on till I go to bed around 11, so a long time. I dont have alot of coral yet, just four kinds of zoa, some xenia and kenya tree and...

    Sump size for 75 gal

More plumbing questions Well I have been reading and reading and reading about sumps and plumbing so more questions. I bought my bulkheads for my predrilled 75 gallon. And the plumbing for the standpipe and part of what I need for the return. But on the drain pipe underneath...

    Lighting schedule

I have a 48" Current PC light on my tank. It has 2 65w dual actinic lights and the 2 65w daylight bulbs in it. Separate plug ins. I'd like to set it up on timers, but Im not sure on what a good schedule is. Do I have both the daylight and actinics on at the same time? or separate? How...

SRS Meeting Ideas and Club Feedback

meeting place Well, I've already mentioned some ideas about meetings to Joanne, but on the meeting place, I think it would be great to have it at Barbies sometimes if she is willing. It sounds great for doing both hands on things as well as general meetings. For us, coming from Post falls...
